Nigel Farage says allegations that Conservative candidates bet on the date of the upcoming general election will "damage" the party "enormously". The Reform UK leader adds that a vote for his party may not "massively" change the outcome of the election, but could mean there is "a real voice of opposition". Report by Brooksl. 00:00Well, have a look at it.
00:01This goes right to the top of the Conservative Party.
00:03It goes right to the heart of the Prime Minister's security
00:06detail.
00:07I think it says to us that, actually, the whole thing's
00:09more corrupt than we ever realised.
00:12It's almost as if they're stealing the light bulbs out
00:14of the building as they leave the door.
00:16It really is.
00:17This is going to damage them enormously.
00:20Well, the polls show the Tories are going to be wiped out.
00:22That's true.
00:23And I've been saying this ever since I launched back
00:25on the 4th of June.
00:26I came back into it.
00:26I said, look, the election's over.
00:28Labour have won, the Tories have lost.
00:30I think the general public are now beginning to get that.
00:34For us, that's a remarkable situation.
00:36Number one, all the polls you see today,
00:38the field work was done 8, 10, 12 days ago.
00:42In one case, up to 28 days ago, things have changed.
00:45So we're much higher than what you can see today,
00:48because the polls aren't up with us.
00:51But I do think this.
00:52It's the first general election for a very long time
00:54where we kind of know the outcome before we get to it.
00:57And that gives people freedom, freedom
00:59to vote with their hearts.
01:00And I think this could benefit Reform UK enormously,
01:03because let's say you're a Brexiteer worried
01:05about high levels of migration but thinking of voting Labour.
01:08Well, if you know Starmer's going to be PM,
01:10I might be quite useful in the House of Commons saying,
01:13whoa, don't take us back too close to the European Union.
01:17And equally, if you're a Conservative
01:18and you agree with what I'm saying
01:20and you're appalled by 14 years of high taxes,
01:22by 882 young men crossing the English Channel on Tuesday
01:26alone, again, you can vote with your heart.
01:29It's almost like a European election now.
01:32If you really like me, you can vote for me.
01:34It won't affect the result hugely,
01:37but it will mean there's a real voice of opposition.
