00:00Hello and welcome to the Scotsman's Daily Bulletin for Thursday. I'm Alan Young, I'm
00:10Deputy Editor of the Scotsman and I'm joined today from the Highland Show by our Food and
00:15Drink Editor, Rosalind Erskine. Hi Rosalind. Hi, how are you? Good. We'll have a quick
00:21look at the front page first. And there you go, we splash on our latest exclusive poll.
00:28There are a lot of polls around in this election campaign, but our one today brings a little
00:35joy for Don Swinney a day after launching the SNP manifesto. It has Labour on course
00:41to win the election in Scotland and predicts the SNP dropping to 17 seats at Westminster.
00:49Picture on the front there, obviously, Scotland's battling draw against Switzerland last night,
00:56which keeps the Euro 2024 hopes alive. And at the top of the page, the Royal Highland
01:02Show, it begins today and runs until Sunday, Scotland's biggest outdoor event. And Ros,
01:12tell us what's happening. Well, it's really busy, it's filling up nicely. There's a lot
01:18of people. I've seen some horses, I've seen some cows, I've seen some sheep. It's the
01:23most amount of livestock I've seen in a long time living in Glasgow. So we are in Scotland's
01:28larger food and drink area. We're here at a stand. And if anyone wants to come and say
01:34hello, I'm here staying tomorrow and over the weekend. But yeah, there's lots of different
01:39food producers. We've got pastries, we've got lots of different spirits, we've got flavoured
01:45water, there's honey berry. Yeah, there's loads of different exciting stuff. So it's
01:50nice to see a lot of people that I've spoken to for work. It's nice to see them in person.
01:54So I'm looking forward to getting around there later on this morning.
01:57Great. And we had the news before the show kicked off that there have been record ticket
02:01sales this year. Is the site filling up?
02:06Yeah, it was getting busy this morning. There weren't too many queues at East entrance,
02:11but I think the car park and everything's getting full. So yeah, I think it's going
02:15to be a busy day. And I think Saturday is supposed to be full. So yeah, it's exciting.
02:21And it's interesting to see. I've never been here before. So it's really nice to see.
02:26Yeah. And as you mentioned, you're also at the show for the next few days. We've got
02:32a lot of staff, a lot of Scotsman staff down there hosting various events. Talk us through
02:38what you're going to be doing.
02:39Well, tomorrow between one and two in the Food for Thought theatre, there's going to
02:44be a live recording of SPAN podcast. So we're talking to various different producers about
02:49getting their products into supermarkets. So yeah, excited about that. Everyone's welcome
02:55to come along if you want to hear more. Kelly, the producer and I will be there. And yeah,
03:01the first in-person SPAN live we've done. So yeah, it's going to be fun. It's going
03:05to be good fun.
03:07Fantastic. And anything in particular you're particularly looking forward to in the coming
03:12days?
03:13I'm looking forward to getting out and about and speaking to different producers. There's
03:17a lot of people here, obviously. Just talking to people that I've maybe not spoken to in
03:22person before. And personally, I want to go and see the goats and the sheep. I've heard
03:27the goats are particularly great if you're having a bit of a tough day. So I'm really
03:31looking forward to seeing them.
03:34Just turn your camera slightly, Ros. I think we can see an animal behind you.
03:38Which way?
03:40The other way, please.
03:42Oh.
03:44Is that one of the giant pandas making an appearance?
03:48They're back. I'm not sure what's going on there, but they look like they're subscribing
03:52to the Scotsman. So that's good.
03:55Fantastic. Absolutely. Thanks very much for that, Ros. We'll let you get back to it. I'm
04:00sure you've got a really busy day. We will have full coverage at Scotsman.com throughout
04:05the day with all the news from the show and, obviously, everything else. If you are on
04:11the website, please do subscribe. If you can, then you won't miss a thing. You'll be able
04:14to read and watch absolutely everything. And if you're out and about today, it's a glorious
04:18day in Edinburgh. Please do pick up a copy of the paper from me and from Ros. It's bye
04:24for now.
