Today, we're in the heart of Birmingham, where I'm asking people about their favourite school memories. From the classroom antics to playground games, let's hear what made school days special as we ask people here in the city to reminisce on their formative years

00:00My school life was horrendous. There wasn't a single day I went without being bullied
00:07until I finally retaliated and almost got expelled for it. And it was all because I
00:15was small. Smaller than everyone else and they obviously pick on you for that.
00:19Well I actually went to school in Arthur's Herry in Four Oaks and I've lived in Ireland
00:23now for the past 12, 13, 14 years I suppose. But the thing that sticks out is sixth form
00:28and chemistry and physics lessons with all the practical stuff. We had a bit of a laugh.
00:33Not behind the teacher's back but just, you know, you do what lads do. And it was just
00:38a bit of a laugh. I look back fondly but that's about 40 plus years ago now so it's good fun.
00:44Well I was in a little primary school and I just enjoyed things even like when they
00:52had a bit of country dancing, you know, we had an old gramophone that they used to bring
00:58out and all the boys and girls we had to all join in a ring and do a sort of country dancing
01:04like that, you know, and the parents came along.
01:06Growing up in school, when I was leaving school that was the main part, enjoyment part for
01:12me because leaving school you got time to mess with your friends, you know what I mean,
01:17and you got to get up to all sorts before you go back to school, reopen again. So leaving
01:21school at the end of like summertime was a good time for us.
01:26Liked my junior school but by the time I hit secondary school I felt like I didn't really
01:30learn anything so I skived a lot.
01:36I liked school, it was fun. I was sort of playing out, especially primary school.
01:42I couldn't learn much while I was there but I learnt plenty while I was out. And as a
01:48result of not doing my English homework I was forced to copy the English dictionary
01:53from Aardvark to Zygote including definitions. So at least I got English!
