00:00Hello there, welcome to another episode of putting Dr. G on the spot in the month of
00:05June and we have Father's Day to celebrate today.
00:09So I'm going to address an issue which is a bit embarrassing for a father who worries
00:15about light father, light son.
00:23When somebody who actually complains of micropenis, it is a penis that is shorter than it should
00:29be.
00:30In reality, this is only happening in about 0.6% of general population when the size of
00:35the penis when it's erect is less than 7cm as compared to 12.5cm.
00:43So is this a natural phenomenon?
00:45Does it have any genetic link to it?
00:48In fact, there is no genetic link whatsoever.
00:52So when parents sometimes get really concerned about their kids, perhaps having a bit of
00:57micropenis, they don't really need to worry about it.
01:01Sometimes when the children are a little bit fat and then they might have a bit of baby
01:07fat that actually buried the penis and that itself is a buried penis rather than micropenis.
01:13When they exercise or when they undergo puberty, the penis itself is elongated and then therefore
01:20the actual buried penis will disappear.
01:23When parents are really concerned about their children having micropenis prior to puberty,
01:29they don't really have to worry about it because with healthy exercise and also healthy lifestyle,
01:35the amount of testosterone will ensure that there is a prolongation of the phallus.
01:42However, in reality, only a minority of people who actually falls into the category of micropenis,
01:50there are minor procedures that can be carried out in order to enhance the length of penis.
01:56However, most of these procedures actually will have its compromises.
02:01For example, release of suspensory ligament might actually prolong the penis itself.
02:06However, it will make the penis unstable and also desensitize the penis itself.
02:13So in reality, when it comes to small penises in children, it's supposed to be like that
02:18because when they undergo puberty, then the subsequent elongation will occur.
02:24So be actually very calm parents.
02:28There's nothing such a thing as like father, like son when it comes to micropenises.
02:35On the following week, we're going to talk about something that is extremely common.
02:40It's probably the most common operation done in the world.
02:43Yes, circumcision.
02:45If you try to find out more about it, then stay tuned for next week's Putting Dr. G on the Spot.
