Transcript
00:00Information compiled by animal rights and greyhound welfare groups confirmed
00:0427 greyhounds who raced on a Tasmanian track in the 23-24 season have died so
00:10far, including one sent through the greyhound adoption program. Three other
00:15gap dogs in the rehoming facility for some time have also been killed and one
00:21gumtree giveaway zipping princess died as well. Many of these dogs died from
00:26race or trial accidents. This is the brutal everyday reality of the greyhound
00:30racing industry. Dozens of young dogs dying every year, often in traumatic
00:35circumstances. Minister, can you still pretend this is an industry of animal
00:39lovers who care for their dogs when it's clearly anything but? And Minister, is
00:4431 dead greyhounds what you mean when you say this government takes animal
00:48welfare extremely seriously? I absolutely disagree with you Dr. Woodruff. The
00:54majority of people in the racing industry, across all three codes, love
00:59their animals, Dr. Woodruff, and I will back the racing industry.
01:06Dr. Woodruff, my responsibility and my priority is to restore faith and
01:15trust in the racing industry across all three codes. That is my
01:22responsibility and that's what this new legislation will be doing.
