00:00 >> Oh, my God.
00:02 >> Cole made a bad assortment for Rudy Bettigan.
00:05 As we see Daniel "Chucky" Barrera undefeated at 6'0" and 1",
00:10 taking on Christian Robles.
00:12 TJ DeSantis along with Pearl Gonzalez live tonight
00:17 in the Valley of Riches, Santa Ynez, California.
00:21 Chumash Casino Resort, the site of Tom Lafleur's
00:24 Hollywood fight nights.
00:28 Daniel "Chucky" Barrera wearing the blue shorts.
00:34 You see Robles wearing the--
00:37 you call that silver, Pearl?
00:38 What is that?
00:39 >> Iridescent.
00:40 >> Oh, I like that word.
00:42 I don't know what it means, but I like it.
00:44 Fainting that jab here early,
00:52 not going to the body is Barrera.
00:55 >> Move your head side to side.
00:57 >> Chucky said that tonight he wanted to make a statement
00:59 not only in this fight but for all future fights.
01:02 Really wanted to send a message to anyone that might have
01:05 his name in front of him, you know, be warned, he said,
01:09 if you sign on the dotted line for a showdown with Chucky.
01:13 >> Yes, he said this camp he's been working on
01:15 mastering his distance, timing his punches,
01:18 and the pace, the pace for him tonight is imperative,
01:21 that he comes in and he's got a good pace.
01:23 It's imperative that he comes in, that he sets the tone,
01:26 sets the pace for this opponent in front of him,
01:28 because he does, he has a very game opponent
01:31 in Christian Robles in front of him right now tonight, TJ.
01:35 >> And I mentioned Robles really wants to make a statement
01:37 to his return to Hollywood Fight Nights.
01:39 Had a tough sort of run outside, you know,
01:42 coming off two losses and said he really wanted to,
01:45 you know, get back in the way of, you know,
01:47 the win column and do so by beating a previously
01:50 undefeated opponent in Chucky.
01:51 >> Yes, and he-- oh, that was a beautiful--
01:53 >> That's better than a--
01:54 >> But yes, Christian Robles is coming off a couple losses,
01:57 but he had, I mean, beautiful--
02:01 top level, high level competition in front of him,
02:03 and he did very well in those fights.
02:05 They were competitive.
02:07 One, he can say it was--
02:10 >> He said it was a draw at worst, yes.
02:11 >> Yes, yes.
02:12 One of them is-- what's that word?
02:14 I can't think of the word.
02:15 >> Re-framing it.
02:16 They want to re-frame it for TJ.
02:20 >> And so he's a very game opponent.
02:21 He's made adjustments.
02:22 He has a really good jab.
02:24 Does a great job of kind of staying very linear,
02:26 but once he starts to throw, he tends to square,
02:29 and that is where I believe he's susceptible to getting caught.
02:33 >> Inside the final minute of our opening round.
02:40 Right hand glances for Chucky.
02:42 >> Oh, beautiful left hook there from Chucky.
02:49 And Chucky has done what he said he wanted to do.
02:51 He's established the pace in here.
02:54 He's got a beautiful range.
02:55 He's landing shots when he wants,
02:58 keeping Robles at bay here and where he wants him,
03:01 which is on the outside of the ring.
03:04 So you know, this is a great round for him.
03:07 >> Nice right hand by Chucky.
03:11 Good combination finishing with the left hand.
03:16 Trying to throw the right hand to the body is Robles.
03:24 Final ten seconds of round number one.
03:27 >> And it's a great tactic, especially for the shorter fighter.
03:30 Go to the body.
03:31 The body is an easier and much larger target.
03:33 To find your range, find your timing,
03:35 and then go upstairs when you need to.
03:38 >> One down.
03:39 We are scheduled for eight rounds of boxing again.
03:41 This is our co-main event.
03:42 The undefeated Daniel "Chucky" Barrera.
03:45 Back at his corner.
03:47 He takes on Christian Robles.
03:48 Pearl, do you believe that first round belongs to Chucky?
03:53 >> I believe so.
03:54 I think that he controlled the pace of this fight.
03:56 He controlled the range.
03:57 And he landed some really good shots.
03:58 Had a nice jab.
03:59 Landed a couple big right hands.
04:01 I would give it to Chucky, yes.
04:04 >> Chucky's been pretty active.
04:05 We saw him recently inside the Hollywood Fight Nights ring.
04:09 Took a week off, he said, and then got right back to it.
04:11 He's a guy that believes in volume.
04:13 He wants to continue to stay active as much as possible.
04:18 That's sort of a trend when you look at Tom Lafleur,
04:21 360 promotions fighters.
04:23 Activity is key.
04:24 And no better man to talk about it than the man joining us right now.
04:28 It is Tom Lafleur.
04:29 Tom, just talking about the activity of Chucky Barrera.
04:33 This kid I think would fight every six to eight weeks if you let him.
04:36 >> He loves to fight.
04:39 >> We're going to try to get someone to turn your mic on for you.
04:41 >> There we go.
04:43 >> Chucky loves to fight.
04:44 Like you said, he's always ready.
04:46 Always on weight, training hard.
04:48 He loves to fight and he's going to put on a great show for the fans tonight.
04:51 This is a tremendous matchup right here.
04:52 >> He's got a very tough Christian Robles in front of him.
04:54 We're talking about him.
04:56 He's came up short in his last two fights.
04:59 He's got a chip on his shoulder because of it.
05:01 He's here to make a statement.
05:02 A statement would definitely be made if he's able to hand Chucky Barrera the first loss
05:06 of his career.
05:07 >> Absolutely.
05:08 That's a big statement.
05:09 Christian has more professional experience.
05:11 He has the amateur pedigree with a four-time national champion.
05:14 So this is a great matchup for Stiles and the fans are going to love this fight.
05:19 >> Starting to get behind their guy in Chucky Barrera as a brief chain of Chucky breaks
05:24 out here inside the Chumash Casino Resort.
05:26 >> Beautiful right hand from Chucky.
05:28 He's got a fantastic right hand.
05:30 Chucky for his age, he's 22 years old, is so mature.
05:34 I asked him what motivates you.
05:35 You can do anything in your life.
05:37 What motivates you to box?
05:39 He said, one, it's to prove to himself, right, his confidence and to build himself up.
05:44 But two, he wants to motivate young kids.
05:47 He wants to motivate people like him, young kids like him, that you can do anything and
05:52 to have fun with it, to have that spirit, to enjoy the warrior spirit, to enjoy the
05:56 spirit of the fight.
05:58 And you know, just enjoy life.
06:00 I love that that is his primary motivation is to help the younger generation.
06:06 >> These guys are both great ambassadors for the sport.
06:08 Chucky is a tremendous ambassador for the sport of boxing.
06:11 >> And very entertaining with his style.
06:13 I mean, it's kind of crazy to think, 112 pounds of weigh-ins and he's got heavy hands, 67%
06:20 finishing rate on his career.
06:21 And don't blink when Chucky's throwing hands in the ring.
06:25 >> And I love that he's never -- he's never frantic.
06:31 Watching his fights, he's got this calmness to him when he fights where he's just in control
06:37 and there's no anxiety -- you don't see anxiety coming out of him.
06:40 He's just in control and confident.
06:42 And I love that about Chucky.
06:46 >> Working inside the clinch here.
06:48 Pretty better going to separate him back at space.
06:52 Right hand.
06:55 >> Chucky's going to be careful.
07:02 Christian has a lot of tricks in his back.
07:06 You talk about that experience.
07:08 Robles may need to lean upon that experience to try to find the answer on how to be the
07:13 first guy to beat Chucky Barrera.
07:15 He might be on to something here.
07:19 Covering up is Chucky Barrera.
07:25 Final ten seconds.
07:26 Barrera covering up, moving away.
07:27 Good bit of offense turned in here by Robles.
07:28 >> Great way to finish this round here.
07:29 >> Looks like Chucky Barrera's going to be a little bit more aggressive.
07:30 >> And Chucky Barrera's going to be a little bit more aggressive.
07:31 >> And Chucky Barrera's going to be a little bit more aggressive.
07:32 >> And Chucky Barrera's going to be a little bit more aggressive.
07:33 >> And Chucky Barrera's going to be a little bit more aggressive.
07:34 >> And Chucky Barrera's going to be a little bit more aggressive.
07:35 - Wow, what a huge few moments there to end round number two for Christian Robles.
07:44 - This is what you expected in this fight.
07:47 This is what I expected in this fight.
07:49 You have two tough competitors, one with a chip on his shoulder, one that is just a rising
07:55 star.
07:56 They're going to meet in the middle and one of them is going to find a way and try to
07:59 find their way to their finish.
08:01 - Here's some of the action for Oroquestro.
08:03 - This was the shot that landed all over Christian Robles on Chucky here, landing these beautiful
08:11 body shots around the guard of Chucky.
08:15 - Now in the corner here of Chucky Barrera.
08:17 It did seem though, Tom, that Chucky had his legs underneath him, was okay, recovered.
08:26 Not opposed to the respite there, I think, is Chucky, but I think he's recovered from
08:30 that shot that did hurt him.
08:31 - On that replay we saw Chucky was pulling back when he got hit, so it wasn't a full
08:34 punch, but definitely got hit.
08:38 - Message sent by Christian Robles as we are inside of round number three.
08:42 Now again, this is our co-main event, the undefeated Daniel Chucky Barrera taking on
08:46 Christian Robles.
08:47 TJ DeSantis along with Paul Gonzalez live tonight inside the Chumash Casino in Santa
08:51 Inez, California, the site of Tom Woffler's Hollywood Fight Night.
08:55 - This is the movement that Chucky needs here, this beautiful in and out work.
09:00 It's short, it's quick, it's fast.
09:01 He can get in range and then get out of range while his opponent counters.
09:05 This is one thing that I believe he has the advantage of in this fight, in particular
09:10 because Robles doesn't have that style.
09:13 He's more of a cloddy style.
09:16 He likes to get in the pocket and throw and plant his feet into the ground so he can find
09:21 his power.
09:23 And I believe that this is one thing that will set Chucky apart in this fight is to
09:26 utilize that range, utilize that footwork.
09:29 - You can see an aggressive Robles here.
09:32 He's motioning Chucky in.
09:34 He wants to get this fight going, get egg on the action a little bit.
09:38 We'll see if Chucky returns in kind.
09:41 - Mental warfare.
09:43 - Right hand.
09:45 You can see the confidence here in this fight.
09:49 It's growing for Christian Robles.
09:50 - Yes.
09:51 As it should be.
09:52 You would hope, and I see it, it's also bringing confidence in Christian here and Robles.
10:00 He's now a lot lighter on his feet here.
10:03 Not at all intimidated by what happened in that round.
10:07 And even if it didn't really land, it's immediately changed.
10:10 - Chucky just exploded a right hand there.
10:13 Wow.
10:14 - Yeah, but that punch gave Christian Robles a lot of confidence.
10:18 You can see he definitely was pressing the action after landing that punch in the second
10:24 round.
10:25 - Touch over a minute remains here in round number three.
10:30 Rudy Berragon separating the two gentlemen.
10:32 Now you hear the chant coming alive here in Chubos for Chucky Barrera.
10:41 - Let's go.
10:48 Box.
10:51 - Right hand.
10:58 Berragon warning Robles for hitting the back of the head.
11:04 Straight hand, left hand by Chucky.
11:06 - Not to the stick, not to the stick.
11:11 - As we head down the stretch around number three, very aggressive Christian Robles.
11:18 This combination of punches, nothing really got through, but the speed on display of Daniel
11:24 Chucky Barrera.
11:36 Three rounds down.
11:37 This one is living up to the hype, very competitive match.
11:42 We come to expect that.
11:43 We've seen it in all of our fights tonight, Tom.
11:45 Again, every single fight here on your cards, they're always competitive.
11:49 The matchmaking, it's on point as usual.
11:53 - I got to give a shout out, TJ, to our matchmaker, Charles Boziger.
11:58 These are consistently the type of fights that he puts together.
12:01 I have it, Chucky, up by one round, two rounds to one, but we'll have to see how the official
12:06 judges are scoring it.
12:08 - Yeah, this one, I think there's a lot left to unfold here as we are scheduled for eight
12:12 rounds per roll.
12:13 I think this one's living up to the hype and we're going to see it unfold a little bit
12:18 more.
12:19 Is this what you were expecting?
12:20 - Yes, and I love that the pace is changing in this fight.
12:23 As the fight goes on, the pace is changing, the demeanors of both fighters are changing.
12:27 That's what you love to see, is you love to see them create adjustments and create a different
12:33 fight and different styles of fights as the fight goes on.
12:37 - Round number four underway.
12:38 Daniel "Chucky" Barrera taking on Christian Robles.
12:41 TJ DeSantis, Perro Gonzalez joined by Tom Lafler here ringside inside Chumash Casino
12:46 Resort.
12:47 It is the site of Hollywood Fight Nights.
12:50 - Stop, stop, stop, stop.
12:55 Let him go, let him go.
13:01 You okay?
13:02 Let's go.
13:03 - All right, mask.
13:04 - Mentioned a very competitive fight here as we are approaching the halfway point.
13:09 A lot of room for both guys to try to implement a game plan and take over down the stretch.
13:15 - Yes, one of these gentlemen can step on the gas.
13:18 - Nice punch.
13:19 - That had some gas on it, right hand.
13:22 - Chucky's starting to find a home for that right hand.
13:24 - It's beautiful.
13:25 It is a beautiful right hand at range too.
13:28 - Pick it up, Christa, pick it up.
13:31 - Another right hand finds a home for Chucky Barrera.
13:35 In business here in the fourth round.
13:39 Robles still hanging tough.
13:41 - You can see Chucky's confidence starting to grow now.
13:47 - There you go.
13:48 - Set it up.
13:49 - The answer thus far from Robles, he wants to keep coming forward.
13:53 - Attacking the body with the left hand.
13:57 Again, right hand glancing, caught the ear of Robles.
14:03 - They're throwing hard punches in there.
14:06 - They're throwing some hard punches.
14:09 - Watch that mid, watch that mid.
14:12 That mid to that short inside, happens quick.
14:16 Make sure you have control of that.
14:21 - Don't forget our main event coming up next, King Callum Walsh defending his WBC Continental
14:26 America Super Welterweight Championship.
14:29 King looking for the 11th win of his professional career.
14:34 Now inside the final minute of round number four.
14:36 - What a fantastic night of boxing, TJ.
14:39 - Absolutely.
14:40 - I mean, from start to finish, we've had exciting fights, we've had closing fights,
14:45 we've had competitive fights, it's just been an incredible night of boxing.
14:49 - We've had bloody fights.
14:50 - We've had bloody fights.
14:51 - How about the ladies?
14:52 - That was great.
14:53 - And again, I think it goes to the fact that we're on UFC Fight Pass.
14:57 Obviously UFC, the premier mixed martial arts promotion, but UFC Fight Pass has become the
15:01 destination for all of combat sports and boxing.
15:06 It's found a nice little home here, Tom, on UFC Fight Pass.
15:09 - For sure, TJ.
15:10 That was the plan, talking to Dana about building boxing on UFC Fight Pass, and this is what
15:15 the fans are coming to expect.
15:17 - And the ladies.
15:22 - Coming up on the final 10 seconds here in this fourth round.
15:27 - 10 seconds, 10 seconds.
15:32 - There you go.
15:34 - Really good evasive movement there by Chuckie Barrera.
15:37 Halfway point of this fight.
15:41 Both men came in with solid game plans, really focused on what they wanted to do.
15:47 Pearl, who is fighting more of their fight at this point, do you think?
15:50 - I think that Chuckie is doing a great job of adjusting, and now he's finding some jazz
15:55 and some confidence, and you see it in the movement now.
15:58 Now he's sitting in the pocket and utilizing some of that swag, as well as that right hand.
16:03 I mean, he's landed some really big right hands at range, and I believe that the pressure
16:09 of Robles is forcing Chuckie to get creative with his footwork and utilize his in and out
16:15 and his lateral movement, and it's beautiful.
16:17 It's beautiful to witness and watch as he continues to adjust and implement all of his skills.
16:23 - Yeah, and I think that's why there's a lot of hype on him at just 22 years old, undefeated,
16:27 is Daniel Chuckie Barrera.
16:29 There's a lot to get excited about each and every time he fights, and Tom, this is a fight
16:34 that could have been potentially a main event type of fight if it was down south.
16:38 Chuckie Barrera, he's got a bright future in front of him, and so far he's doing well
16:41 in this co-main event.
16:42 - Absolutely.
16:43 These two are fan favorites, especially in the Southern California area, and it easily
16:47 could be a main event, but we're lucky to have it as the co-feature tonight.
16:52 - It's a good night when this is the co-feature, I think.
16:54 - No knockdown, no knockdown, guys.
16:57 - And Robles, Robles is a very tough competitor.
17:00 He's been in there with Olympians.
17:02 He's fought high-level boxing fights, and the way that Chuckie is adjusting in this
17:08 fight says so much to his skills and to his future.
17:12 He's doing a fantastic job here of not at all allowing for Christian to intimidate him,
17:19 to wear on him, and now implementing more skills as this fight goes on.
17:24 - There we see Al Franco, Chuckie's trainer, Chuckie Barrera's trainer.
17:28 Both fighters very well prepared.
17:30 Christian Robles trains out of the Wild Card Gym with Marvin Simone.
17:34 - This is one of those fights that's very evenly matched where I feel like the trainers are
17:39 even a bigger role and factor in fights like this because it's going to come down to the
17:44 athlete that makes the proper adjustments over the course of eight rounds.
17:47 - Absolutely.
17:48 - And right on.
17:49 - Stay with him, stay with him.
17:51 - Nice shot.
17:52 - Stay with him.
17:53 - I think Robles got the better of that exchange.
17:57 - He did.
17:58 - He froze him, he froze Chuckie in this moment here.
18:01 Chuckie's not on his bicycle right now.
18:05 There's the movement, there's the footwork.
18:07 When Robles is able to freeze him, he is finding his success as he is now.
18:13 - Just past the halfway point here of this fifth round, Christian Robles.
18:17 - Oh, that's okay.
18:18 - Going to work in Chuckie Barrera, answering incoming.
18:22 - What says a lot about Christian Robles, he lives two hours away from Wild Card and
18:27 travels every single day on the Metro to get to training.
18:32 - Wow.
18:33 - That's how committed he is to his training.
18:34 - That's good security for the Metro.
18:38 - Final minute here of this fifth round.
18:44 - Barbera separating these two gentlemen back in space.
18:50 - Hand speed on display there.
18:51 - Beautiful.
18:54 - Looks like Chuckie's bleeding.
18:56 - Oh, yeah, he got cut.
18:57 - Oh, yeah.
18:58 - On his left eye.
18:59 - Left eye.
19:00 - Let's see what the referee says here.
19:02 - Such a beautiful jab, such beautiful long range punches.
19:11 - We need to get a replay on that.
19:12 I didn't see what caused that cut.
19:14 - They were inside the clinch at various times.
19:17 I don't know if it was a headbutt.
19:18 I didn't see a super clean punch that might have caught him and cut him.
19:22 - Nice jab there.
19:24 He's got to keep sticking that jab out there and keeping--
19:30 - Oh, my goodness, Chuckie going to work here.
19:34 In the final moments of round number five, cut and bloody,
19:38 but undeterred is Chuckie Barbera in business there as he put the pressure
19:44 on Christian Robles.
19:46 Wow.
19:47 - This is where the cut man comes into play.
19:49 - Yes.
19:50 - Always important to have a good cut man in your corner.
19:52 - Beautiful short work here from Robles.
19:55 And then Chuckie did a good job here of tying up when he needed to.
19:59 Here's the work.
20:00 He corralled him onto the ropes and forced him to pay.
20:03 Beautiful work here from Chuckie Barbera.
20:07 - I didn't see a punch.
20:08 I would say that had to be a headbutt when they were that close.
20:11 - I understand his knee at that, too.
20:13 - Corner working here for Chuckie Barbera,
20:16 going to try to close up that cut and make sure it's not an issue.
20:20 It's right above his left eye.
20:23 But Chuckie was in business to end that round.
20:26 [buzzer]
20:27 [whistle]
20:30 But obviously some concern and attention being paid to that cut over the left eye
20:35 of Daniel Chuckie Barbera.
20:37 - You know, when a fighter gets cut like that, TJ,
20:39 a lot of times they come out blasting because they want to, you know,
20:43 really put a stamp on this fight.
20:45 - We saw that in Callum Walsh's fight with Carson Jones.
20:48 He was cut and then immediately finished the fight.
20:51 That was an accidental headbutt there.
20:54 And, yeah, I mean, Pearl, we talked about that.
20:56 Sometimes when a fighter sees blood,
20:58 they literally see red and just go to work and get their opponent out of there.
21:01 - Yeah, you can smell the blood when you're in there,
21:04 and that can feel you.
21:05 And that is gorgeous, right, overhand right.
21:08 It can feel you, and, you know, you just--the smell of it,
21:12 it's all over your face.
21:13 You're sweaty.
21:14 It's dripping.
21:15 And I don't know about anybody else,
21:17 but I feel like a gladiator.
21:18 I feel like a warrior.
21:20 - You know, different fighters react differently.
21:22 - Right.
21:23 - Like Pearl said, some get motivated by the blood,
21:25 and others, they feel the blood, they feel the cut,
21:28 and all of a sudden they freeze,
21:29 and you're never quite sure how a fighter's going to react.
21:33 - I get a nosebleed, and I almost pass out.
21:36 - One minute down here in round number six.
21:39 - Oh, that right hand.
21:40 - Loading up with the right hand was robust.
21:45 - Chuckie's fighting well with that cut,
21:47 and it seems like the cut man did a nice job at the blood stop.
21:51 - I love--I love that about boxing,
21:55 that you have the ability to pick and choose your corner man--
21:59 to pick and choose your corner--or your cut man.
22:02 And that brings so much confidence, I believe,
22:04 in these fights, to know that you have the cut man
22:07 that you chose and that you believe in and confide in
22:10 to close you up when--if need be.
22:13 - That's Mike Rodriguez.
22:14 That's in the blue corner.
22:15 That's Christian Robles' cut man,
22:17 and he's one of the best.
22:19 - Referee Rudy Berragon separating the two gentlemen.
22:31 Just about a minute remains here in the sixth round
22:34 of our KOMIT event, scheduled for 8.
22:43 - Yeah, looking at the cut over Chuckie's eye,
22:45 it's just a small, tiny, little trickle at this point.
22:48 They did a great job patching that up in between rounds.
22:51 - God, his footwork is--is just gorgeous.
22:54 In and out, in and out.
22:57 - Robles getting aggressive.
23:09 Chuckie throws a punch to the body.
23:13 - And that's the great work of Christian Robles,
23:15 to freeze and get Chuckie to sit.
23:18 That takes a lot of work.
23:20 Not only does he try to get inside and close the space,
23:23 and then he forces Chuckie to sit down,
23:25 and it's just--it's great skills from Robles.
23:28 Fantastic fight.
23:29 - Final 10 seconds of the round.
23:31 Robles was complaining, too, about a shot
23:34 to the back of his head.
23:36 Solid round there.
23:41 Pearl, who's got the momentum in this fight right now?
23:45 - I think that Chuckie does.
23:46 I think Chuckie ended that last round beautifully,
23:48 and he came in here, and he still is not really
23:52 letting Christian impose his will in this fight.
23:55 Whenever he's on his feet and on his gas pedals
23:57 or on his bicycle, he does great.
23:59 You can't catch him.
24:00 He's so hard to hit, so hard to find
24:03 and close the distance on.
24:04 When Christian closes the distance
24:07 and is able to get him to sit down,
24:09 that is when he's finding his best moments in this fight.
24:12 - And I think, you know, we questioned
24:14 what we would see from Chuckie Barrera
24:17 after getting cut.
24:18 That was a solid round.
24:19 He looked undeterred on phase
24:20 by the cut over his left side.
24:22 - Getting hit and getting cut.
24:23 I gave Christian Robles a second round,
24:25 but pretty much I agree with Pearl
24:27 that Chuckie has momentum here.
24:30 He weathered that storm well,
24:31 and it seems like he's back in control on boxing.
24:35 - Heading into the seventh round again.
24:37 This is our co-main event, scheduled for 8.
24:39 Daniel "Chuckie" Barrera in the blue,
24:41 taking on Christian Robles.
24:43 Pearl Gonzalez said some weird word
24:45 about the color of his shorts.
24:46 What color would you call that, Tom?
24:49 It's like oil slick.
24:50 - That's a good description.
24:53 Yeah, it's like an effervescent purple.
24:57 - I think that's the word we use.
24:59 - I use iridescent.
25:00 - Iridescent, okay. There we go.
25:02 - I don't know what either of those words mean.
25:04 [laughter]
25:06 - Nice exchange here from this gentleman.
25:08 - Let him go, let him go, let him go, let him go.
25:10 Hey!
25:12 Don't give him space. Come on.
25:15 [crowd shouting]
25:17 - Doubling up on the jab there is Chuckie.
25:20 Left hand to the body.
25:22 - Go to a Grateful Dead concert,
25:23 you might see those colors.
25:26 - Really?
25:28 What kind of concerts you go to?
25:29 I guess Grateful Dead ones.
25:32 - Oh, nice combination there by Chuckie Barrera.
25:34 - Oh, there we go.
25:36 [crowd shouting]
25:42 - Robles still very aggressive.
25:46 - Chuckie is definitely in a groove though right now.
25:49 He's--look at the movement, the swagger he has right now.
25:54 He's confident, and that's beautiful.
25:55 That's beautiful to hear when you hear his story
25:58 and know where and what he's come from.
26:01 Being such a shy, timid kid to being in here with the swag
26:05 against a very tough in-game opponent
26:07 and doing a fantastic job.
26:09 - Halfway point of the seventh round.
26:13 - Chuckie just closed a deal with Chumash Casino,
26:15 so that always adds a little bit of pressure
26:17 when you're fighting in front of the hometown sponsor.
26:21 You got a little more weight on your shoulders,
26:23 and his trunks look like an NASCAR.
26:26 - They do, and he's carrying that weight so well.
26:30 [crowd shouting]
26:33 - That's a popularity of Chuckie Barrera.
26:35 Great personality, great person, great fighter,
26:38 and I can see why those sponsors want to be involved
26:40 with his career.
26:41 - Yeah, really an easy young man to talk to.
26:44 Knows what he wants, going out there and doing big things
26:47 at just 22 years old, a true professional
26:51 here in the boxing ranks,
26:52 and we're seeing him do pretty good in this fight
26:55 as we are inside the final minute of round number seven
26:58 again, scheduled for eight.
27:00 - TJ, so he plays golf.
27:01 He just picked up golf a few months ago
27:03 and plays golf now in his downtime,
27:05 to unwind Chuckie, that is,
27:06 and he told me, he said, "Look, I can't compete
27:08 against Canelo in boxing, but I would love to compete
27:11 against Canelo in golf," and I absolutely love that.
27:15 - I know his manager, Ray Shaparo, he's a big golfer,
27:17 so that fits right in.
27:19 - All right.
27:21 - Able Sanchez, who's normally on the telecast,
27:24 he's a big golfer as well.
27:27 [Bell rings]
27:29 - Ten seconds, guys.
27:31 - Open the bell.
27:37 [Bell rings]
27:38 - Time!
27:39 [Applause]
27:41 [Music]
27:44 - Seven rounds down here in our co-main event.
27:47 Again, scheduled for eight.
27:48 Daniel "Chuckie" Barrera and Christian Robles
27:51 going to work.
27:52 Pearl, walk us through some of the action.
27:54 - Beautiful long-range punches here from Chuckie.
27:57 I mean, he's got such clean and crisp strikes
28:00 when he's long, and he's doing a great job.
28:03 The footwork here, he's in and out.
28:06 Landing these punches, controlling the range,
28:08 which is a big thing that he really wanted to do.
28:11 - Curren Walters.
28:12 - It wouldn't be Hollywood Fight Nights
28:14 without some stars from Hollywood.
28:15 Curren Walters, the actor here in the house
28:18 at Chumash Casino.
28:20 - Curren was at the charity golf tournament
28:22 last year for Chumash,
28:23 so he's a big golfer, too.
28:25 - I would be a big golfer if I could ever find my ball
28:27 after I hit it off the tee.
28:29 - I just want to drive the golf cart.
28:31 That's what I want to do.
28:32 - The chauffeur.
28:33 Pearl could be your chauffeur and bodyguard.
28:36 - We're definitely getting kicked off the golf course
28:38 if Pearl's the responsible one, let me tell you that.
28:41 - Final round here between Daniel "Chuckie" Barrera
28:44 and Christian Robles.
28:45 Again, this is our co-main event.
28:47 TJ DeSantis, Perg Gonzalez, Tom Loeffler
28:49 inside the Chumash Casino Resort.
28:51 Santa Ynez, California, the site of Hollywood Fight Nights.
28:54 - Another nice jab.
28:58 - Yes.
28:59 Nice body work there.
29:02 - Stop! No more punching, no more punching.
29:04 - You see, Chuckie's--it's very competitive,
29:06 but Chuckie seems to be getting the better
29:07 of these exchanges now.
29:08 - Yes, he's adjusting so well and finding his reach.
29:12 - Oh, nice right hand.
29:14 - Yeah, found a nice home for that right hand
29:16 to Chuckie Barrera, but Robles still trying to throw back
29:19 in his third game.
29:20 - And he's finding success in all areas of this fight.
29:23 He's finding them long and outside.
29:25 He's finding them inside, in the pocket,
29:27 against the ropes.
29:28 He's corralling, he's controlling.
29:29 I mean, he's done so many great things in this fight,
29:32 and he's fighting an eight-round fight.
29:34 - Christian not giving up.
29:35 He wants to land another one of those big punches
29:38 to turn the tide here in the eighth round.
29:40 - And looking at these two gentlemen, both have power.
29:44 You look at, you know, the scale doesn't explain
29:47 how much power both of these men have in their punches,
29:49 lighter weight guys, but explosive hands.
29:52 - Keep it tight.
29:53 - Strong spirit.
29:54 - You can't give him rest.
29:56 - Let's go.
29:57 - Let's go, Christian!
30:00 - Crank and then overhand.
30:02 Come on.
30:03 That's it.
30:04 - Coming up on the final 90 seconds of this fight.
30:08 - You're gonna win this round.
30:09 You're gonna win.
30:12 - Christian needs to let it all hang out here
30:14 if he's gonna win this fight.
30:16 - He does.
30:17 - He does.
30:19 - Right back, right back.
30:22 - Ooh, nice combination there by Chuckie Barrera.
30:26 Robles trying to answer in time.
30:28 - No more punching, no more punching.
30:30 - He's frustrated right now.
30:31 - He is.
30:32 - Let's go.
30:33 - But he's trying.
30:34 He's had some success in this fight,
30:35 and he's done a lot of great things,
30:37 but I believe Chuckie is just a step ahead here
30:40 and not falling into his traps.
30:43 - And he's got the crowd behind him.
30:46 - The support on display here inside the Chumash Casino Resort.
30:49 - Stop, stop, stop.
30:50 No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
30:52 - Oh, putting it back in.
30:53 - Stop putting it back in.
30:54 That's a good one.
30:55 - Rudy Barragán warning.
30:56 - All right, let's go.
30:57 Come on, guys.
30:58 No more of that.
30:59 No more of that, guys.
31:00 Come on, let's go.
31:01 - Club's slowing.
31:02 - 30 seconds.
31:03 - Up that left thigh.
31:04 - Let's go.
31:05 Let's pick it up.
31:06 - Got a feeling things are gonna pick up here
31:08 down the stretch final 30 seconds.
31:10 - Let's go.
31:11 - They're throwing leather.
31:13 - Let's go.
31:15 - Come on.
31:16 Pick it up.
31:17 Right back.
31:18 - Stop.
31:19 No more punching.
31:20 No more punching.
31:21 - Inside the glitch.
31:22 - Let's go.
31:23 - 10 seconds, guys.
31:24 Stop the bell.
31:25 Stop the bell.
31:26 - He's got 10 seconds here.
31:27 He's gotta let it go.
31:28 - We go to the final bell.
31:29 - A little bit late.
31:30 - That's good.
31:31 That's good.
31:32 That's good.
31:33 - He's got a good one there.
31:34 - He's got a good one there.
31:35 - He's got a good one there.
31:36 - He's got a good one there.
31:37 - He's got a good one there.
31:38 - He's got a good one there.
31:39 - He's got a good one there.
31:40 - He's got a good one there.
31:41 - A little bit late on that last part of that fight.
31:45 Chucky won that fight.
31:46 Five of you, Chucky won that fight.
31:47 - Two men in brace after going eight rounds.
31:51 Cut over that left eye was Chucky Barrera, but ultimately unfazed by it.
31:58 And you could tell really down the final few moments of that fight,
32:03 we saw a very frustrated Christian Robles,
32:07 which was due to the handiwork of one Daniel Chucky Barrera.
32:12 We go the distance.
32:13 Judges are going to tally their 10s and 9s to determine our winner.
32:18 But you've got to feel here as we watch it in real-time ringside
32:22 that this one is probably going to belong to Daniel Chucky Barrera.
32:25 Let's take a look at some of the action, final 10 seconds of the fight.
32:34 - It was getting wild and even a bit grimy.
32:38 That one on the bell, if you will.
32:44 And we now await our judges' decision.
32:46 Again, a solid performance by both gentlemen.
32:49 Christian Robles came in with a chip on his shoulder,
32:51 wanted to make a statement by taking out the undefeated Daniel Chucky Barrera.
32:57 Barrera was on point with his game tonight,
32:59 despite getting cut over that left eye.
33:02 That cut proved to not be an issue.
33:05 Corner did a great job at addressing that, and he was unfazed by it.
33:09 Solid professional performance by the 22-year-old and Daniel Chucky Barrera.
33:16 Of course, we've got our main event here tonight.
33:18 Callum Walsh, the king, defending his WBC Super Welterweight Continental Americas title.
33:24 He takes on the hard-hitting Mexican in Carlos Ortiz.
33:27 14 wins for Ortiz, all by way of knockout.
33:30 He wants to pull off a knockout and the upset here at Hollywood Fight Nights.
33:35 Again, our main event coming up just around the corner.
33:41 All right, the judges have tallied their 10s and 9s for our co-main event.
33:46 For our winner, we go inside the ring to Matt Perrino.
33:52 - Ladies and gentlemen, after eight rounds of action,
33:57 we go to the judges' scorecards for decision.
34:00 The judges score the contest, 77-75, 79-73, and 77-75.
34:08 Oh, for your winner, by unanimous decision,
34:13 Daniel "Chucky" Barrera!
34:19 [bell dings]
34:21 - Daniel "Chucky" Barrera getting the win, the 77-75.
