Protest in Sheffield city centre over laws banning breeds including XL Bullies
Transcript
00:00 Protesters campaigning against laws banning dog breeds, including XL bullies, had to battle
00:07 the wind as well as the laws outside City Hall today.
00:11 They explained why they were there.
00:13 So we're here to spread awareness for breed specific legislation and animal testing, mainly
00:19 the beagles at NBR.
00:21 And I see you've got pictures of bullies on here as well.
00:25 Is that something that you're also raising awareness of?
00:29 Yeah, for the XL bully ban, for all banned breeds really.
00:33 Are you a dog owner yourself?
00:35 I am, yeah.
00:36 Can you tell us a little bit about your dog?
00:37 Mine's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
00:39 He's nine years old.
00:40 His name's Rug.
00:41 Never stepped a foot wrong.
00:43 Loves people, loves animals, loves everybody.
00:47 Are you concerned about his safety?
00:49 Because they're not banned at the moment, are they?
00:51 They're not, no, but they have tried to ban him before.
00:53 But because they're a registered kennel club breed since 1931, I think it is, they'll struggle
01:02 to ban it because it's a recognised breed and it's a historical breed as well.
01:07 So it's not just the XL bully, it's beagles and all bull breeds that are banned.
