00:00Look, the main causes of these type of collisions, quite frankly, are inattention.
00:13Not leaving a sufficient amount of space between your car and the vehicle in front.
00:17Not being considerate.
00:18Not thinking about what your actions and how your actions will impact other road users.
00:24Very recently we responded to a, I believe it was a six car collision on the Tuggeranong
00:29Parkway.
00:30Whilst police and other emergency services were at that location, other motorists that
00:35decided to pay an elevated amount of attention to that collision failed to observe cars in
00:40front of them slowing down and as a result a number of other multi-vehicle collisions
00:44resulted.
00:49The Tuggeranong Parkway is a major arterial road linking the south of Canberra to the
00:54north of Canberra and into the city.
00:57It does carry a significant amount of traffic at any given time of the day.
01:03It doesn't necessarily need to be a peak hour which is routinely between 7.30 and 9.30 in
01:08the morning or from about 3.30 to 6.30 of an evening.
01:12There is a lot of traffic.
01:13People just need to remain patient.
01:15An extra couple of minutes in your car to get home is way better than spending an hour
01:19and a half on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.
