00:00 Hello, my name is Sian Jones and these are the latest headlines from our newsrooms across the North West.
00:05 A motorcyclist was struck by a van after being punched by a driver in Bamber Bridge.
00:10 A white transit van hit a black Harley Davidson motorbike on Lostock Lane near the Poacher's Pub at around 6.30pm on May 19th.
00:18 The van driver then left the scene.
00:21 A former professional rugby player tragically died at the age of 45 in Inquest Herd.
00:27 Bolton Coroner's Court heard the case of Wigan-born Malcolm Alker, who had a 16-year career as a member of Salford Red Devils, a RLFC, which he captained.
00:36 He also won two caps for England on the international scene.
00:40 The hearing was attended by Mr Alker's dad, also called Malcolm, along with an aunt and the ex-rugby player's partner.
00:47 In other news, it has been confirmed that the Blackpool branch of a well-known bar and chain will be closing later this year.
00:54 Revolution Bars has announced that its premises on Market Street will be closing its doors permanently in August.
01:00 It is one of 12 branches that are closing across the UK as the chain scrambles to cut costs.
01:07 Volunteers from Bay Search and Rescue and the Ironside and South Lakes Coast Guard rescue team tried to catch a stray dog at Ironside.
01:17 The dog didn't appear to be with anyone and was running up and down the sands from Home Island to Ironside, Dryaduct and back.
01:23 A spokesman for Bay Search and Rescue said "We have been informed that this isn't the first time the dog has been sighted loose on the bay, which is a little worrying, as there are lots of sheep grazing and it doesn't take much to spook them."
01:36 And finally, a man has died after a fire at his Burnley home last Sunday.
01:42 Police named the victim of the blaze at a property on Burnley Road, Bragglyffe, as 60-year-old Wayne Cunningham.
01:49 In a statement, Burnley and Paddington Police said "Despite the best efforts of both members of the public and medical staff who helped to rescue Wayne from the house and give him first aid, he died on Sunday evening."
02:02 The weather now, a mostly cloudy day with bands of rain sweeping southwards, with sunnier spells in the afternoon, with highs of 16 degrees.
