00:00Hi, I'm Hal Dobbins from Lake Macquarie City Council.
00:04Do you know that Lake Mac residents help keep over 40,000 tons of garden and food organics
00:11out of landfill every year by using our food and garden organics service?
00:15It's a great job.
00:16And while that's really important, is that organic material breaks down in landfill and
00:21creates methane gas, which is a very potent greenhouse gas, way more potent than carbon
00:26dioxide.
00:27One of the easiest things you can do at home is recover your food waste, avoid food waste
00:32to start if you can, and remember, every scrap counts.
