Heavy rain is falling along the New South Wales south coast with 150 millimetres recorded in parts of the Shoalhaven. A severe weather warning has been issues for the Illawarra and South Coast as a low-pressure system moved north towards Sydney.

00:29 Thankfully Bury hasn't seen it quite as bad as other parts of the Shoal Haven.
00:34 Just a little bit further south in Narra that community has seen more than 120 mils of rain
00:39 overnight with that number expected to grow as the rain continues to fall.
00:44 The SES did carry out a flood rescue at 5.30 this morning in Narra where two people had
00:50 driven through flood water and their car had gotten stuck.
00:53 So the message as always from emergency services is to not drive through flood water and if
00:58 possible on a day like today stay home and stay inside if you can.
01:04 Further to the east down near the coastal villages Carrarong saw close to 200 millimetres
01:10 of rain overnight and Greenwell Point 160 millimetres of rain.
01:16 Businesses there have had to close completely inundated.
01:20 So the Shoal Haven is under immense pressure at the moment with this rain.
01:26 There is a minor flood watch warning for the Sussex Inlet community there tonight when
01:32 that tide does begin to rise.
01:34 So residents there need to be aware of that.
01:36 And there is of course a flood watch for the Shoal Haven River and the Clyde River there.
01:40 So the message to community is to stay safe, stay inside and stay aware and alert.
