00:05The workers are angry over the disparity between their pay and that of Arriva drivers
00:09who are paid £1.40 more an hour, equating to around £3,000 a year for performing the same role.
00:15Unite regional officer Brian Trokes said our members have been forced into strike action
00:20by Stagecoach's continued attempts to keep them on unfair rates of pay.
00:24Stagecoach owes an apology for the disruption it will cause to the travelling public.
00:29Workers will strike from 13th to 18th June, as well as day-to-day travel, transport to events
00:34during the strike action, such as concerts by Taylor Swift and Pink, will also be affected.
00:38If the dispute is not resolved, industrial action will escalate,
00:41including the possibility of indefinite all-out strikes.
00:44A spokesperson for Stagecoach, Merseyside and South Lancashire, said
00:47we have worked closely with our union representatives to try and agree a pay deal.
00:51Throughout this process, we have done our utmost to present an offer that meets their expectations,
00:55whilst also being affordable for the long-term sustainability of the region's bus network.
