The portrait of the King will appear on all four banknotes (£5, £10, £20 & £50). The rollout of the banknotes will be staggered and only a selection of Post Offices across the country will stock the new currency with selected Post Offices initially providing £5, £10 and £20 notes. Thousands of Post Offices will receive the new-look currency over the coming days and weeks.

00:00Hiya, I'm Steph Calloway. I've just popped to the post office to get some money out of
00:06me and was lucky enough to get one of the new King notes.
00:11Excellent. And what was your first impression when you saw King Charles on the front of
00:16the £10 note?
00:17I was quite amazed actually because in my lifetime, like in most people's lifetimes,
00:20I've always been the Queen, so I was just here at the right time. I think it's lovely.
00:24I'm going to keep it for my granddaughter.
00:26Excellent. So it's not going to be spent any time of senior visit then?
00:29No, it's not going to be spent at all, hopefully.
00:32Maybe framed up somewhere?
00:33Maybe, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, my granddaughter lives in Scotland so it'd be a bit easier
00:37for her because it's an English note.
00:39I'm Karen Stonham. I'm the branch manager here at Portsmouth Post Office and today's
00:44the first day that the new King Charles banknotes have been issued and we've been really excited
00:49to be picked as one of the offices to take part in it. So we've had a queue since this
00:54morning of people wanting to get the notes for the first time. We had some people, one
01:00of them was, he was just a collector and he just wanted to be one of the first ones to
01:05get it. We've had people coming in to take the notes out for their grandchildren, to
01:12give them to their grandchildren. And then just other customers just really heard it
01:17on the news this morning and just really wanted to come down and see if they could get one.
01:23Excellent. And how, personally, have you been excited about the rollout?
01:27I have, I have actually, yeah. I mean, because there's so much going on in Portsmouth this
01:32week with the celebrations and the King being here as well and to be one of the offices
01:38that has the notes, it's really exciting actually. There's a real bounce in the office today.
01:44Brilliant. And what are your first impressions of it?
01:49Yeah, I mean, obviously it's the first time for such a long time that we've got a new
01:54different monarch on the notes. It's quite momentous, really, for me. It's been, in my
02:00lifetime, it's only ever been the Queen, so to have the King on there, it's quite momentous.
02:08Excellent. Thank you so much, that was really good.
02:10Oh, you're welcome.
