We meet Brian the dog and survive to tell the tale. In truth he didn't even bark when i turned up with not a post bag but a camera bag on my shoulder. He's 12 years old and has never bit anyone says his owner, and a dog barking and a dog attack are two very different things.

00:00 Hello sir how you doing? Good morning. What's your name? He's Brian I'm Dave. Hello Brian,
00:11 hello mate, how you doing? So you're a cover star with the Shropshire Star Dave, just fill
00:18 us in on what's been going on chap with this the Savage Dog here. Well the Savage Dog ran
00:24 across to the postman barking jumped up maybe but certainly didn't bite. He's 12 and he's
00:31 never bit anybody yet. Yeah. So I don't know what all the fuss is about really. So you've
00:36 had a first thing you know this development where we live here, beautiful little development
00:40 it's run by Anchor, so the first thing you know you get a letter from Anchor saying what?
00:45 There's been an incident. Yeah. They don't say what. I think yesterday a manager from
00:54 Anchor phoned me up and said the incident was about the dog. Yeah. I said okay so they
00:59 say I've got to keep him on a short lead and be with him all the time he can't go out and
01:04 all that you know. Yeah. So they're saying yeah if he's out here they want him on a short
01:10 lead if you're walking him on a short lead and so on and so on. So yeah as far as we
01:16 know then you know if I guess you've had a couple of policemen visit to your knowledge
01:21 no one was bit. So he was doing what he does. You said he's kind of like he alerts you I
01:26 guess he does what dogs does he he has a yap when the when people come yeah. All the neighbours
01:32 think the world of him we go around to different houses for a drink and a chat and a couple
01:38 of the residents around here have him if I go away anywhere they'll have the dog for
01:42 me. Yeah. They're ground. And you any problems you said he's lived with you in Spain is it
01:48 and all different places and 12 years old now any problems you with any of the deliveries
01:53 you have or? No. We have the guy delivering medicines and what have you he comes over
02:01 gives the dog a treat the dog never bothers him. Yeah. I mean he barks at the post he
02:07 barks at the bin man. Yeah. The bin man come over give him a biscuit. Yeah. Like I say
02:12 everybody's quite happy with the dog. Yeah. When we have parties he's always invited so
02:18 yeah you know. So I mean crucially we must say that there's a number of bungalows here
02:24 so there's a lot of people are not spring chickens but it's not just you the saying
02:28 they're not delivering the post to it's the whole street here isn't it now is that right?
02:32 Yeah. The guy next to me Trevor is 90 this year. Yeah. He needs he can't get out the
02:38 boat that's his help. Yeah. And obviously he needs medication he gets hospital appointments
02:45 so he's got to get his own meal somehow. Yeah. Royson doesn't drive and so it's difficult
02:52 but. So they're saying what it's going to be left at the sorting office and it's up
02:56 for you to pick it up like yeah and then and then distribute it amongst the neighbours.
03:02 Yeah. What's he after look what's he after? He's after the neighbours. Is he after your
03:06 brew? Do you like your cup of tea does he? Ryan you're a tea belly. Little minks. You
03:15 won't get me since I didn't rent this tea bag. So you know there are residents with
03:20 cars going to fetch each other's mail basically. Yeah. So I don't know how long it's going
03:26 on I don't know why it's going on really. Yeah. If they can't find somebody that understands
03:31 dogs on the Royal Mail then there's a problem isn't there? Yeah. They seem to get younger
03:35 and younger. Any little problems and it's back to the Royal Mail crying I suppose. Yeah.
03:44 So as far as you're concerned you know you've got him out here on a on a lead and it's it's
03:50 worth pointing out that where he's positioned on this lead here there's a bit of length
03:54 to it but actually the door to your side is the one you use but your letterbox is around
03:59 the corner so where he is on this lead if I was to get out my car and walk to your letterbox
04:06 would he be able to reach me? No. No. Yeah. So really as far as you're concerned that
04:12 that resolves that as well doesn't it? You can get to your car and lie in front of it
04:16 in the shade but what happened was I was just coming out to put his lead on open the door
04:26 and he normally walks up and jumps on his chair and I put his lead on. But that particular
04:30 morning saw the postman and he was off across the green parking lot. Yeah. Unfortunate.
04:38 I did apologise but he's no longer. Has he ever bit anyone? No. No. 12 years old and
04:44 he's never bit anyone yeah? Brian you enjoy that? Shall we get a final word off you? How
04:50 are you mate? Did you enjoy that brew? Yeah. I love my tea. Eh? He's a big softy. Eh? He's
04:59 a good lad. Shall we give you a scratch? Every dog loves a scratch doesn't he? Has he always
05:06 loved his tea? Always. Yeah. That's why he's fat. Is that my problem then because I like
05:12 me tea? He's a good lad. Any last words Brian? He's a load of rubbish. He is a load of rubbish.
05:23 I think you've blown it out.
05:26 Oh. Oh, yeah.
