Jose Mari Chan | The Story Behind Perfect Christmas  This second part of the interview with Jose Mari Chan reveals how his record producer really felt about Christmas In Our Hearts that led to the making of a Christmassy love song; the Perfect Christmas. After all, Jose Mari Chan is known for being a romantic balladeer. The storytelling includes dismissing corny messages to find the perfect one for the song,  his favorite line, what the song means for him now that his 76. And he opens up about the public calling him the father of Christmas carols. You guys need to rethink that. There's a better name Jomari wants to be called when 'ber' months hit the calendar. And it does sounds cool and on point.  Jose "Joe" Mari Lim Chan is a Filipino-Chinese songwriter, incredibly known as a mellow balladeer with an emotionally heart-throbbing vocal. 00:52 Because I have been blessed with the success of my songs, my Christmas songs.

00:57 I've been blessed that until today, 31 years later,

01:00 the song is sung by young and old people alike.

01:04 It's a blessing that God has given me, and I'm grateful for it.

01:08 And I'm glad that the song has touched the lives of people in our country.

01:12 But to tell you a very interesting story,

01:14 so we recorded Christmas in Our Hearts Na.

01:17 And when my record producer, Belia Tan, heard it,

01:20 he said, "Joe, you know, the song is beautiful.

01:25 Pero I don't think that radio stations will play this."

01:28 I said, "Why not?"

01:29 I said, "Joe, to be honest, I hope you don't mind,

01:32 but the song sounds like a Christian song, like a spiritual song.

01:38 And, you know, radio stations, they try to shy away from playing Christian music."

01:44 And I said, "Belia, I'm surprised.

01:47 What is Christmas?"

01:49 Christmas is a Christian event, a Christian celebration.

01:54 And Christmas is not about Santa Claus.

01:57 Christmas is not about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

02:01 Wala naman tayong snow dito sa Philippines.

02:05 So Christmas is a celebration of Christ being born in the manger, the child Jesus.

02:12 He says, "Yeah, I know, Joe, pero kasi since you are known as a songwriter, romantic balladeer."

03:37 My idea of a perfect Christmas is to spend it with you in a party or dinner for two.

03:49 A perfect Christmas is when I spend it with you.

03:52 That's what makes Christmas perfect for me.

05:11 No bad feelings, just happiness, contentment, love, unity.
