00:00When you arrive at the pump in most parts of the world, you have to get out and fuel
00:07up yourself.
00:08However, that might not be the case for long in the United Arab Emirates, as these robots
00:13might be the pump station workers of the future.
00:15The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company has just unveiled their new prototype gas pump, one
00:20that includes what is essentially an AI-powered robotic fueling arm.
00:23The robo-gas pump includes a series of cameras and sensors that allow the robotic arm to
00:28approach the vehicle in need of fueling, and then open the gas cap and extend to begin
00:32pumping fuel, all on its own.
00:34The company's engineering manager says it was designed from the ground up to be quick
00:38and environmentally friendly, adding that it can manage any fuel spills that may occur
00:42as well.
00:43It makes the entire process seamless.
00:45This technology will assist the capacity and the traffic flow in the service station.
00:51Currently, the robotic fuel pump is in its pilot phase, having been deployed at just
00:55one gas station in the UAE.
00:58However, if successful, perhaps one day it could soon be pumping fuel at a gas station
01:03near you.
