A total of RM120,000 has been allocated for the repair work of the roof of Putra Ria Apartments in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, which was damaged in a storm on Saturday (May 25), said Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, told reporters on Tuesday after inspecting the site and handing out contributions to residents affected by the incident, and mentioned that he would also discuss with Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh, to expedite the repair work.

Fahmi also said the apartment management has been asked to inspect all the roof structures in the three apartment blocks so that comprehensive action can be taken if there is any risk to the residents.

00:00Today we are at the Putra Ria apartment to visit 8 families who were affected by the riots
00:24A few days ago at the Putra Ria apartment, 2 out of 3 blocks were severely damaged
00:34and the 22nd floor roof was blown away by the wind
00:43The damage to the structure of the building from the roof is quite serious
00:52There is a part of one of the blocks where the lift has been affected
01:00because the roof is completely open
01:04So it is open and it may be affected due to the rain later
01:11So we see the work to repair for these two blocks
01:19It is expected to cost around RM120,000
01:24I will be discussing with Dato' Banda this evening about the repair work
01:31So if Allah wills it, there will be no problem in terms of the payment
01:35My payment is ready to be used for the repair work
01:39We just want to make sure that the repair work is done as soon as possible
01:45There are a number of vehicles, including 5 motorcycles and 3 cars
01:51that were also damaged due to the impact of the roof
01:59So if Allah wills it, we will help these families as well
02:04I would like to thank Dato' Banda Kuala Lumpur and BKL
02:10I would also like to thank Mr. Iswadi who has helped a lot
02:14because three of these families have been helped by BKL
02:21So we will continue to make sure that they are comfortable
02:27and help can be provided immediately
02:31Mr. Iswadi, is it only the damaged roof or other parts of the roof that will be repaired?
02:40Yes, the management has informed us that after the contractor went to inspect the roof
02:49The concern is that there are parts of the roof that may be damaged
03:03So here, because it involves 3 blocks
03:07So I think besides repairing the roof that has been damaged during the day
03:15I will ask the MC to conduct an inspection of all the roof structures in the 3 blocks
03:25If we need to take further action to repair it, we will do it immediately
03:30How much compensation will be received from the victims here?
03:36We have 8 families, 8 house units on the 22nd floor
03:42who have reported that the roof on their unit has been affected
03:50while there are at least 5 motorcycles and 3 cars that have also been affected due to the incident during the day
04:00When do you expect the timeline to be completed?
04:05I hope the work can start as soon as possible
04:09If possible, we want to start tomorrow
04:12But I need to have a discussion with the DBKL
04:16regarding the compensation for the damage
04:20and also with the ICU
04:22So God willing, we will immediately start
04:24It may take some time
04:26because it has been informed that there is an aspect of the shape of the roof
04:36Previously, it involved a few zinc plates
04:41but the contractor has informed us that we only need to replace it with one zinc plate
04:48which is safer
04:50So this is what is being considered
04:52but we have received the costing, which is around RM120,000
04:56But I request that all the roof structures be investigated in the 3 blocks
05:04so that we can try to resolve the issue
05:09Can you share with us the amount of damages?
05:13I haven't received it yet
05:15because there are damages to the car
05:19as well as to the body and windscreen
05:25I haven't received all the police reports
05:29so we have asked the MPP and the residents to collect them
05:34So in the near future, we will know the amount of damages
05:40You can refer to the police
