Good old nightmare fuel! Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the most terrifying monsters in movie history.
Transcript
00:00 "Or... he will just leave us be. I will take him, only him, and I will have my long rest,
00:12 and you will all live to grow and thrive and lead happy lives."
00:20 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most terrifying monsters in movie history.
00:26 "He will not touch him again!"
00:28 "Come on and finish it!"
00:34 Number 30. Pumpkinhead. Pumpkinhead.
00:38 "See, according to the legend, if one man does something bad to another man, it's gotta be something real bad, something like killing.
00:44 And that other man can have Pumpkinhead conjured up to take revenge."
00:50 When a grieving father makes a Faustian bargain with a local witch, he unleashes the hissing Pumpkinhead on the town.
00:57 Pumpkinhead is a cult creature feature involving witchcraft and revenge that was pure nightmare fuel for kids of a certain age,
01:04 who saw its unsettling cover art in the aisles of video stores.
01:08 Personifying vengeance, Pumpkinhead's acts of retribution inflicts pain upon the man who summoned it.
01:13 Directed by makeup master Stan Winston, it's unsurprising that the practical effects of the title monster is the standout component.
01:21 Its unforgettable makeup includes sharp teeth, reptilian features, and bulging white eyes.
01:27 "What's wrong?" "She's got a gift." "What's got her?" "It's a thing." "What thing?" "I don't know, it's a thing."
01:33 Number 29. Gabriel. Malignant.
01:36 "I can't tell you how long I've waited for this."
01:48 Cinematic twins tend to be creepy to begin with, but this movie takes things to a whole new level.
01:53 Malignant leads us down several avenues as to who or what Gabriel could be,
01:58 such as a standard deranged serial killer, an imaginary friend come to life.
02:03 The real truth, though, is that he's the parasitic twin of the protagonist, Madison.
02:08 "We share the same brain."
02:13 "I did not beget it to you. You don't deserve your body."
02:18 His brain still lives in her head and compels her to kill, even taking control of her body at various points.
02:24 Personified as a cloaked, disfigured figure, Gabriel's a scarily powerful and over-the-top antagonist.
02:31 But there's nothing quite as bizarre and shocking as seeing archival footage of when he was still attached to Madison.
02:37 Number 28. The Tall Man. It. It follows.
02:41 "This thing... it's gonna follow you."
02:46 It's hard to describe what the monster at the centre of this innovative 2014 horror thriller actually is.
02:52 Is it a cursed? Is it a demonic entity?
02:55 All we know is that it's invincible, and that if a person has sex with one of its targets, that person becomes a new target.
03:02 Although Tall Man is probably its most memorable incarnation, it can take the form of any human being,
03:07 even someone you know, and only the cursed can see it.
03:10 The horror is almost like an endless game of tag. Once it catches you, it's almost impossible to escape.
03:16 The fact that we never really see what it does to its victims, only the mangled and bloody aftermath,
03:21 leaves just enough to the imagination.
03:24 "Jay, what do you see?"
03:31 Number 27. Pinhead. Hellraiser.
03:34 "The box. You opened it. We came."
03:38 Clive Barker's original story didn't name him or any of his merry band of hedonistic demons.
03:43 They were simply the Cenobites. But Pinhead has that certain "je ne sais quoi".
03:48 Could it be his flair for poetry? Or is it his gentlemanly demeanour?
03:52 No, it's definitely the nails driven into his head and face.
03:56 When you've experienced all the pleasure and pain that exists in this dimension, and every other possible dimension,
04:01 human suffering probably seems trivial.
04:04 But altogether, Pinhead's clinical approach to, and almost playful delight in suffering,
04:09 makes him a villain like no other.
04:12 "We'll tear your soul apart."
04:16 Number 26. Clover. Cloverfield.
04:19 "We are getting some truly extraordinary live images here in the studio.
04:23 For those of you just joining us, Lower Manhattan is in an absolute state of siege."
04:27 As with the shark in Jaws, the less seen of this monster, the better.
04:31 Even in the brief glimpses we get, the bulging, tooth-forward villain of this found-footage gem is horrifying.
04:38 Leaping over the city with ease, Clover is like a deranged 10-year-old destroying an anthill.
04:43 And we are the ants.
04:45 Though never named in the movie, the creators affectionately called it Clover.
04:49 Creature designer Neville Page likened the monster to a "scared, newborn creature without reason or empathy,
04:56 only fear and distress."
04:59 Clover is clumsy, but efficient in bringing about destruction.
05:03 By the end, we don't know where or what it is, but we know what it's capable of.
05:08 "Oh shit. Oh my god. Oh my god.
05:13 Are you guys seeing this right now? Are you seeing this right now? Look, look, look, look!
05:17 Are you guys seeing this shit right now?"
05:19 Number 25. Werewolf. An American werewolf in London.
05:23 "I'm a werewolf."
05:26 "A werewolf?"
05:28 Werewolves had certainly been done on screen before this movie.
05:31 In those instances, usually some carefully applied furs on a human actor's face, hands, and feet did the trick.
05:37 But the ones featured in An American Werewolf in London are not just forest-dwelling creatures
05:42 who lurk in the shadows and kill theatrically and bloodlessly.
05:46 They are unhinged beasts, with anger and fury in their yellow eyes.
05:51 They rampage through city streets, unbothered by being seen or known,
05:55 as they rip victims' limb from limb.
05:58 And when you turn into a werewolf in this movie, it's a painful and grotesque transformation.
06:03 "Please, run!"
06:06 Number 24. Jean Jacket. Nope.
06:16 "It ain't the man. It ain't the man."
06:19 "It's a lie of hell. It's animal work. It's territorial work.
06:23 And it thinks that this is his home."
06:26 The best villains have a touch of the unexpected.
06:29 The extraterrestrial threat at the centre of Jordan Peele's sci-fi horror is about as untraditional as it gets.
06:36 And that's what makes it so scary.
06:38 Even when it's revealed in its true form, it's kind of majestic and graceful.
06:43 Just don't look it in the eye.
06:45 Its ironically cute nickname, Jean Jacket, belies its savage and merciless hunger.
06:51 Disguising itself as a cloud, the creature doesn't devour its prey individually.
06:56 Jean Jacket likes to gorge, engulfing its prey and any inanimate object in the vicinity.
07:02 The alien allows its meal to live in its digestive system before crushing it
07:06 and spitting out anything that's not flesh and blood.
07:10 "Mum!"
07:20 23. Pazuzu - The Exorcist
07:23 "Well then let's introduce ourselves. I'm Damian Karras."
07:26 "And I'm the devil. Now kindly undo these straps."
07:30 Based on the Mesopotamian demon of ill winds, this movie monster has such a massive presence
07:36 that it took the work of three different performers to bring it to life.
07:39 Linda Blair plays the little girl possessed by the demon.
07:42 Academy Award winner and long-time smoker Mercedes McCambridge provided its bone-chilling voice.
07:48 Actress Eileen Dietz performed the more dangerous or obscene acts in Blair's place,
07:54 and perhaps most notably provided the face of the demon.
07:57 Makeup master Dick Smith's designs for Blair were scary enough,
08:01 but those glimpses of the white-faced Pazuzu in all its glory give viewers nightmares to this day.
08:08 "You killed your mother!"
08:09 "I'm just your servant!"
08:10 "You left her alone to die!"
08:11 "Shut up!"
08:12 "I'll never forgive you!"
08:13 "You bastard!"
08:14 "Shut up!"
08:15 "Bastard!"
08:16 "Aww!"
08:17 "I command you!"
08:19 22. Gwemul - The Host
08:21 "Get me down! Get me!"
08:25 Director Bong Joon-ho's monster movie is a classic throwback tale with modern twists.
08:30 Gwemul is a mutant creature who lives in the Han River of South Korea,
08:34 created by the illegal dumping of chemicals and a subsequent governmental cover-up.
08:39 The man-made horrors and conspiracies of The Host have nothing on Gwemul.
08:43 With its gruesome mix of fish-like and amphibious features, Gwemul is a terror on both land and in water.
08:50 Though the result is less than scientifically accurate,
08:52 it does kind of give you pause when you realise the movie was based on a real story of chemical dumping.
08:59 "Where? What is that?"
09:00 "I don't know! Come on, Dick!"
09:02 21. The Predator - Predator
09:05 "He says a jungle. It just came alive and took him."
09:08 Cold War paranoia and the terrors of outer space come together in this Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle from 1987.
09:15 A US military envoy is stalked and hunted down in a South American jungle
09:20 by an alien creature equipped with thermal imaging and the very latest in weaponry.
09:25 If that weren't terrifying enough, the creature's design by Master Effects artist Stan Winston is an unholy creation.
09:32 It really was a match for the normally unflappable Schwarzenegger.
09:35 The lore and the Predator species has been expanded in media since,
09:39 but its first unforgettable appearance had audiences recoiling in fear and disgust.
09:45 "I'm here! Come on! Do it now! Kill me!"
09:49 20. The Crooked Man - The Conjuring 2
09:52 Valak is the primary antagonist of The Conjuring series,
09:56 and it takes its scariest form in The Conjuring 2 as the Crooked Man.
10:01 "There was the Crooked Man!"
10:08 This is a bizarre creature with a very lanky frame, greyish skin and a wide smile filled with sharp teeth.
10:16 But perhaps the scariest thing about it is the way it moves.
10:19 When appearing to Billy, the Crooked Man walks in a very erratic and supernatural manner.
10:24 The creature is played by a Spanish actor named Javier Botet.
10:28 Botet has been cast as numerous movie creatures owing to his height and hypermobility,
10:33 which is a symptom of his Marfan syndrome.
10:36 Botet does an exceptional job as the Crooked Man,
10:39 creating what could be the scariest monster in a franchise full of them.
10:43 "Here I come!"
10:48 "Am I talking to the spirit that's oppressing this family?"
10:51 19. The Dementors - The Harry Potter Franchise
10:55 Introduced in The Prisoner of Azkaban and appearing sporadically throughout the franchise,
11:00 the Dementors are some of the freakiest monsters in young adult literature.
11:03 What a Dementor really is, no one really knows.
11:06 All we know is they're wraith-like creatures that guard the most notorious prison in the wizarding world.
11:12 "What was that thing that came?"
11:14 "It was a Dementor, one of the guards of Azkaban. It's gone now. He was searching the train for Sirius Black."
11:20 Their physical appearance is quite startling, but it's what they do that's most terrifying.
11:25 With the help of their circular, gaping mouths, Dementors glide towards their victims and quite literally suck out their souls.
11:32 "Listen Harry, they've captured Sirius. Any minute the Dementors are going to perform the kiss."
11:37 "You mean they're going to kill him?"
11:39 "No, it's worse. Much worse. They're going to suck out his soul."
11:44 One Dementor is terrifying, let alone a large group of them.
11:47 There's a reason even the most hardened criminals fear them with every inch of their being.
11:52 18. The Wendigo - Antlers
11:55 The Wendigo is a mythological creature originating in First Nations folklore.
12:00 It's appeared in numerous pieces of pop culture throughout the years,
12:03 typically as some type of large, beast-like creature that preys on humans.
12:08 An absolutely terrifying iteration of the Wendigo appears in Antlers.
12:12 "Is that the kind of thing you taught in California?"
12:15 "I don't think that's going to fly here."
12:20 The physical design of this monster is both imaginative and wonderfully realised.
12:24 Towards the end of the film, Cary Russell's character comes across the Wendigo in the dark
12:29 and sees a human face is draped over its head.
12:32 That image alone is worth the price of admission, but the rest of the creature is equally terrifying.
12:38 Suffice to say, this is the last thing we'd want to see inside a flashlight beam.
12:43 17. The Clown - Krampus
12:54 We don't know how people think of these things.
12:56 The Clown doesn't get much screen time in Krampus, but its design is unforgettable.
13:02 "Oh, come on."
13:05 It consists of a very large, worm-like horizontal body,
13:08 but the most imaginative element of the monster is easily its face.
13:12 The Clown has a face much like a vintage porcelain doll,
13:16 and a massive, fleshy mouth that opens wide enough to devour humans.
13:21 "Shoot it, Tom, shoot it! You can't make me shoot it!"
13:27 The contrast between the fleshy muscle and porcelain face is marvelously grotesque.
13:32 It looks revolting, and provides a tantalising glimpse into the creature's biology.
13:37 The practical effects and sound design are also fantastic,
13:41 making a scary monster even scarier.
13:44 "Hey! Give me back my kids, you... fudger!"
13:49 16. Lipstick Face Demon - Insidious Franchise
13:54 Despite his admittedly goofy name, the Lipstick Face Demon is one of the most terrifying monsters of the 2010s.
14:00 "What's happening to Renee is real. I've seen it for myself."
14:05 For one thing, he's the central part of one of the most effective jump scares in modern horror history.
14:11 The demon appears right behind Josh's shoulder,
14:13 accompanied by a startlingly effective growl in the midst of a tension-filled silence.
14:18 "I can still hear that voice."
14:21 Its design is fairly typical of devils or demonic creatures,
14:29 complete with a red and black face and hooves.
14:32 Regardless, its design is still very effective,
14:35 and the Lipstick Face Demon helped turn the Insidious franchise into the box office mega-success it became.
14:41 15. Moda - The Ritual
14:44 Who knew that this little British film would produce one of the most effective monsters of the decade?
14:49 Moda is another Wendigo-like creature, appearing in full at the very end of The Ritual.
14:55 It doesn't get much screen time, but the time it does get is both haunting and impressive.
15:01 [Moda growling]
15:04 We don't even know how to describe this thing.
15:10 It's like if a human, a bear and an elk fused together in a grotesque mass of limbs that towered 20 feet into the air.
15:18 [Moda growling]
15:21 The physical design of this monster is simply incredible,
15:27 with its dangling human arms, torso-like antlers and beady yellow eyes being particular highlights.
15:33 We don't know what it is, but then again, we don't really want to find out.
15:38 14. Crawlers - The Descent Franchise
15:42 Caves are a frightening place to be.
15:44 We instinctively fear them because they're dark, deep and labyrinthine.
15:48 Oh, and there's also the fact that we don't know what's hiding in their depths,
15:52 watching from the shadows and waiting to strike.
15:55 [Moda growling]
15:58 The Descent starts scary enough, but it gets even worse when the Crawlers get involved.
16:11 These are humanoid creatures who've lived in dark caves for an undetermined amount of time.
16:16 [Moda growling]
16:19 [Moda breathing heavily]
16:24 This has turned them into territorial and cannibalistic monsters
16:28 who violently defend their home from outside visitors,
16:31 namely spelunkers hoping for a taste of adventure.
16:34 Finding a bear inside a cave is freaky. Finding these things is positively nightmarish.
16:40 13. The Mutant Bear - Annihilation
16:44 With a story centred around intermixing DNA,
16:47 we expected some imaginative creature design.
16:49 Do you think it's a crossbreed?
16:51 You can't crossbreed between different species.
16:56 Well, we certainly got that and then some.
16:58 In what's arguably the movie's most memorable scene,
17:01 a mutant bear arrives to sniff out the vulnerable protagonists.
17:04 The creature is a horrific mixture between black bear and human.
17:08 Its body is bear-like, but the skin on its face has rotted away,
17:12 leaving behind an exposed skull.
17:14 But the scariest part by far is its fusion with Cass.
17:18 The bear's roaring is intermingled with Cass' human screams,
17:22 and it looks like Cass' skull has been merged with the bear's.
17:25 [Bear roaring]
17:31 Both the sound and physical design of this creature are masterful,
17:35 combining to create one of the most unforgettable movie monsters in recent memory.
17:40 Number 12 - The Babadook
17:44 [Babadook roaring]
17:51 This horror movie from Jennifer Kent made major waves when released in 2014,
17:56 with many calling it a modern masterpiece.
17:58 There are a number of factors for its strong critical reception,
18:01 including the creature design.
18:03 The Babadook is a very creepy creature that appears with massive claw-like appendages
18:08 and a ghostly white humanoid face.
18:11 It doesn't help that the Babadook often sticks to the shadows,
18:13 letting our imaginations run wild.
18:16 Perhaps even scarier than its physical design is what it represents.
18:19 The Babadook is a metaphor for Emilia's grief,
18:22 so his presence is palpably felt even when he's not on the screen.
18:26 "I don't want you to go away."
18:29 "I'm not going anywhere."
18:33 It's quite a dour movie, and it's all thanks to its titular creature.
18:37 Number 11 - The Death Angels - A Quiet Place Franchise
18:41 The first Quiet Place was one of the most popular horror movies of the late 2010s,
18:46 and that's thanks in large part to its monsters.
18:48 Not so much their design, although it's certainly effective,
18:52 but what they do and represent.
18:54 With the help of hypersensitive hearing,
19:03 the monsters pounce on anything and anyone that makes noise,
19:06 this causes everyone to live in constant fear and paranoia,
19:10 forced to monitor each and every activity for even a modicum of sound.
19:15 Their danger is horrifically established in the first five minutes of the movie,
19:20 when a long-legged creature swipes young Bo before his family's eyes.
19:25 [Monsters growling]
19:28 It's an incredibly successful formula, and it's led to numerous and inferior copycats.
19:42 Number 10 - The Blair Witch - The Blair Witch Franchise
19:46 Despite initially never appearing on the screen,
19:48 The Blair Witch is one of the scariest movie monsters of all time.
19:52 What we don't see is always scarier than what we do.
19:55 "I'm scared to close my eyes. I'm scared to open them."
19:59 It lets our imaginations fill in the gaps,
20:02 and our imaginations are always scarier than what can be conjured through practical effects.
20:07 It also helps that The Blair Witch project is so masterfully constructed.
20:11 The inventive camera work and strong acting had the world convinced
20:15 that this was genuine footage, at least for a little while.
20:19 We know hardly anything about The Blair Witch - its history, what it wants, etc.
20:24 All we know is that it causes incredible paranoia in its victims,
20:28 and that's certainly enough for us.
20:30 "Nothing, nothing happened. I'm just very hungry. I'm very tired.
20:34 And I'm very scared, and I just want to go home, okay?"
20:37 "Okay."
20:38 Number 9 - Jaws - Jaws
20:40 Steven Spielberg has long been regarded as one of the best directors in movie history,
20:45 and he became a household name with Jaws.
20:48 The movie's filming process was notoriously awful,
20:51 complete with a mechanical shark that never seemed to work.
20:54 But Spielberg pulled it off with some imaginative filmmaking techniques.
20:59 The Blair Witch project clearly took a note out of Spielberg's playbook,
21:15 as he rarely shows the shark.
21:17 The creature's underwater POV shots and the accompanying music are iconic,
21:22 and Spielberg didn't shy away from the bloody carnage that it wrought.
21:26 Of course, the movie works exceptionally well even when the shark is on screen.
21:30 It still looks amazing to this day.
21:32 One only needs to watch Quint's excruciating death scene to realise that.
21:37 Number 8 - Rexy - The Jurassic Park Franchise
21:45 There's no exaggerating it.
21:47 The T-Rex's appearance in Jurassic Park is one of the most iconic scenes in movie history.
21:52 Spielberg strikes yet again,
21:57 creating both the greatest and scariest on-screen depiction of a dinosaur.
22:01 Credit also goes to Stan Winston and his team of special effects artists.
22:06 They created an animatronic T-Rex that stood 20 feet high and weighed over 17,000 pounds.
22:13 The result is pure movie magic.
22:15 Everyone who's seen Jurassic Park has fond memories of the pounding rain,
22:27 the shaking water, the approaching booms and shakes,
22:30 and the face of the T-Rex appearing over the fence.
22:34 And that roar. Oh God, that roar.
22:41 Number 7 - Count Orlok - Nosferatu
22:45 It's amazing how Count Orlok has stood the test of time.
22:48 Conceived and filmed in the early 20th century,
22:51 Orlok has nevertheless remained a haunting symbol of the horror genre.
22:55 While the character is based on Count Dracula, or more accurately, ripped off from Count Dracula,
23:00 he shares little in common with the other on-screen iterations of the iconic character.
23:05 He's far more demonic in appearance.
23:08 Complete with tall, lanky frame, pointy claws,
23:11 and that incredibly creepy face that's caused a century's worth of nightmares.
23:16 We tend to think of silent films as crude predecessors of modern cinema,
23:20 but Orlok's design proves otherwise.
23:23 It's innovative, and best of all, it's still disturbingly effective.
23:32 Number 6 - The Pale Man - Pan's Labyrinth
23:35 Guillermo del Toro is well known for his fantastical creature designs,
23:39 but this has to be his masterpiece.
23:42 Put crudely, this is one gnarly monster.
23:45 Its white skin hangs in slabs off its torso,
23:54 and most famous of all, its eyeballs are in the palms of its massive, clawed hands.
23:58 It's a masterclass in imaginative monster design.
24:01 The Pale Man is played by a contortionist named Doug Jones,
24:05 and he does an exceptional job with the creature's slow and erratic movements.
24:09 And worst of all, this thing eats children.
24:12 The entire sequence is ripped straight out of a nightmare,
24:16 from the design of the monster, to the way it slowly chases Ophelia down a long corridor.
24:21 It's great stuff. Horrifying, but great.
24:24 [Monstrous sounds]
24:34 Number 5 - The Brundlefly - The Fly
24:38 David Cronenberg is a master of body horror,
24:41 a subsection of the genre that's centred around the grotesque disfigurement of the human body.
24:46 "I know what the disease wants."
24:48 "What does the disease want?"
24:50 "It wants to turn me into something else."
24:53 And the fly is his masterpiece.
24:56 In this one, poor Seth Brundle starts slowly turning into the titular insect,
25:00 thanks to a scientific experiment gone horribly awry.
25:04 The creature's effects were handled by Chris Wallace, who won the Academy Award for Best Makeup.
25:09 He turns Jeff Goldblum into a horrific monster,
25:12 and Seth's final transition from human to Brundlefly
25:16 is truly one of the most disgusting things ever put on screen.
25:20 The Brundlefly itself is a revolting work of art,
25:23 an Oscar-winning work of art to be precise.
25:26 Who says the Academy doesn't recognise genre movies?
25:29 [Screaming]
25:32 Number 4 - Pennywise - It
25:35 The great thing about Pennywise is that it takes all sorts of different forms,
25:38 ensuring that everyone gets at least a little creeped out.
25:42 "Here. Take it."
25:45 It's the entire point of its character.
25:48 Scared of creepy clowns with sharp teeth and weird eyes?
25:51 Well, that's its primary form.
25:53 Scared of lepers whose limbs are slowly rotting off?
25:56 Got that. What about headless corpses that chase you down dark hallways?
26:00 Got that too. Surely this movie doesn't contain the greatest fear of all,
26:04 a small cluster of intergalactic orbs that cause instant insanity
26:08 and appear out of split clown heads?
26:10 Well, guess what.
26:12 [Screaming]
26:16 Pennywise's taunting personality is also gleefully unnerving,
26:20 and Bill Skarsgård does a wonderful job with the character's more malicious tendencies.
26:26 Number 3 - The Thing - The Thing
26:29 We never actually see The Thing.
26:32 It's an alien entity that takes the physical form of those it assimilates,
26:36 and in this case, a group of isolated scientists working in Antarctica.
26:40 "It isn't Benny!"
26:42 [Screaming]
26:53 Even though we never see the monster itself, we see the grotesque abominations it creates.
26:58 Rob Bottin handled the movie's practical effects,
27:01 and even to this day, they're heralded as some of the best in the business.
27:06 His creatures are a delightful combination of inventive and disgusting,
27:10 often accompanied by lots of tentacles and oozy goo.
27:14 Take for instance the human head that dislodges itself from its body and turns into a spider.
27:23 How they come up with this stuff, we don't know, but we're glad they did.

27:32 Number 2 - Shelob - The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King
27:37 While Shelob is little more than a giant spider,
27:39 it nevertheless remains one of the scariest movie monsters in recent history.
27:44 It works thanks in large part to the tension that director Peter Jackson rings out of the character.
27:49 "He could let her do it."
27:54 We hear about Shelob in The Two Towers,
27:57 but we don't get to her until well into The Return of the King.
28:01 And even when we do, her appearance is preceded by an eerie cave filled with skeletons,
28:06 hanging animal corpses and massive webs.
28:09 Shelob is one of the most dangerous creatures in the trilogy,
28:12 and she nearly ends the entire quest when she stabs Frodo in the gut.
28:17 If it weren't for Sam's quick thinking, they would have been done for.
28:26 "Let him go, you filth."
28:29 "Let him go!"

28:46 Number 1 - The Plants - The Happening
28:50 Say what you will about this silly movie, but there's no denying the horrifying powers of those plants.
28:56 "We're just here to use the bathroom. Then we're just gonna leave."
29:00 "I hope that's okay."
29:03 It's a testament to M. Night Shyamalan's talent as a horror director.
29:07 No, but seriously.
29:09 Number 1 - The Xenomorphs - Alien Franchise
29:13 When you get down to it, the first Alien is just a slasher movie in space.
29:17 Ridley Scott's masterpiece of sci-fi horror contains one of the all-time greatest moving monsters in its titular creature.
29:24 "We found this laying there. No blood."
29:29 "No damage."
29:32 "Nothing."
29:35 The Alien's physical design is iconic, complete with its weird oblong head and freaky little mouth within a mouth.
29:42 Its introduction is also a timeless piece of movie history,
29:45 as a chestburster slowly eats its way out of Kane before scurrying off, covered in blood.
29:51 "Hey! Hey, what's the matter?"
29:53 "I'm a vulture!"
29:56 The possibilities are endless when it comes to Aliens, but sometimes the simplest designs are the most effective.
30:02 This is just a tall, somewhat humanoid alien that hides in the air ducts and remorselessly eats people.
30:09 And it remains horrific to this day.
30:12 Which of these movie monsters gave you nightmares? Be sure to tell us in the comments.
30:16 "Ahhhh!"
30:18 "Ahhhh!"
30:21 "Ahhhh!"
