Digital reporter Sam Quine checks out the new Adidas Spezial exhibition in Lancashire

00:04 And come with me as I'm heading to Darwin to check out the new Adidas Spetsiel Decade Exhibition.

00:11 Now this is to celebrate 10 years of the Spetsiel being a shoe in the Adidas range.

00:17 And it's in Darwin because its curator, Gary Aspden, is originally from Darwin

00:23 so he wanted to pay homage by bringing this milestone exhibition back to his hometown.

00:29 Now this shoe has some great cultural significance.

00:35 It's been worn by the likes of Liam Gallagher, Roy Keane and Stephen Graham.

00:41 And it's a really staple shoe in a lot of fashion people's minds.

00:49 So I'm looking forward to checking out the exhibition and seeing what maybe new shoes they have out to offer.

00:57 Adidas Spetsiel launched the exhibition in Darwin on Friday 17th May and it will run until Sunday 26th May.

01:08 Throughout the week there have been headline music performances from the likes of Shawn Ryders, Black Grape and Stereo MCs.

01:16 There have also been private viewings and film screenings of the Adidas Spetsiel Decade Documentary.

01:23 The Decade Documentary, which is 10 years of Adidas Spetsiel,

01:29 showcases complete Adidas Spetsiel footwear in an archive and highlights from the 10 years of apparel collections.

01:37 The retrospective exhibition showcases vintage design references, unseen samples, technical drawings,

01:44 signed footwear and a large selection of rare Adidas Spetsiel artefacts.

01:49 On Friday 24th May, a special release of the new Blackburn Spetsiel Decade Pack X Nightsafe Edition shoe

01:59 will launch exclusively at the exhibition, raising funds for local charity Nightsafe.

02:05 Limited to only 100 pairs, the trainer features a unique red leather swing tag and a Nightsafe branded sock liner.

02:14 Since its launch in 2014, the Adidas Spetsiel has set out to celebrate touch points

02:20 where Adidas has intersected with popular culture both on and off the pitch.

02:25 And walking around the exhibition, it's clear to see that it's rich in this kind of culture.

02:30 From shoe cabal elaborations with the likes of Liam Gallagher, Goldie, Stephen Graham and even Roy Keane,

02:37 the shoe really is a staple in the fashion world as well as the sports and celebrity world.

02:43 Also launched at the exhibition was a new educational retrospective Adidas Spetsiel Decade Book

02:50 which showcases the full Adidas Spetsiel footwear archive alongside detailed product descriptions,

02:56 photography and quotes from Spetsiel's friends and family, including Liam Gallagher, Vicky McClure,

03:03 Ashley Walters, Noel Gallagher and even more.

03:07 So I've just been to the pop-up exhibition, the Adidas Spetsiel Decade one, and I must say it ran really well.

03:17 It had a real professional and sleek look to it and it was really interesting just kind of listening

03:24 and seeing all the history the shoe has just in a short amount of time really.

03:28 It's been worn by some massive names and really respected in the fashion community.

03:34 So I'm looking forward to hearing future plans.
