00:00The Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics. Not only did they go over the total, these two teams with
00:09the overtime included scored what was it 260 points last night in the NBA. Indiana just came
00:15out on fire against the Boston Celtics. First quarter score 34 to 31 in the game yesterday.
00:22Five seconds remaining in the second quarter Tyrese Halliburton hits a three-point shot.
00:26The end of the first half 64 to 64. Tyrese Halliburton was going nuts at the end of the
00:32third quarter. Hit another three-point shot 94 to 93 at that point. Folks that was the end of
00:37the third quarter. Then in the fourth quarter Jalen Brown saved the day. A lot of Boston
00:41Celtics fans actually left this game before it ended. In Boston where they've got these great
00:49fans apparently. Left the game before it ended. Hits a three. Tied at 117 sending the game to
00:55overtime. And in the end the Celtics stay alive to take game one. That was the final there. As
01:01Boston does when they do not cover that spread they did not deserve that. Can you imagine taking
01:06Indiana and thinking in this one I got this covered. I got this one. And then all of a sudden
01:11Boston goes on this little run at overtime. You're like oh my gosh am I gonna lose this. That would
01:15have been a horrible bad beat no doubt. But in the end Boston not completely content to take game
01:21one. Remember Indiana just went up against the very tough New York Knicks. Took them all the way
01:26to seven games. And after the game Jalen Brown talked about hey look we got this win. We hit
01:32some shots at the buzzer. But we got to be better. I think it's always great to come out with a win.
01:36But obviously we got to tighten up in some areas. And we're gonna watch the film. I think majority
01:43of it was just transition. I think they just you know we knew they were gonna be faster than
01:47surprises. But it's one thing watching it on film and then seeing it in person. They just got out
01:53of a dogfight in New York. And it just felt like they were just flying by us getting easy layups.
01:58We got to be better. We got to match their intensity if we want to win this series. Jalen
02:02obviously it looked like the game was lost there at the end. And a lot of people in the arena
02:09thought so. What does it take for you guys to continue to believe even with 10 seconds left
02:16and you need a three to go out there and execute and make those plays to win? I mean welcome to
02:23the NBA playoffs. You just got to manage your emotions of the game. Anything can happen. The
02:28game is not over until the final whistle. The final buzzer sounds. And that was a good example
02:36of that. You know we was able to turn them over a little bit towards the end. One with Halliburton
02:41on the sideline. And I was able to get the deflection off of Siakam. That just extended
02:45the game. And it's not over till it's over. And we found a way to win this game at the very end.
02:50They sure did but not covering the spread which is of course what a lot of Boston fans are probably
02:56saying today. Meanwhile Indiana not happy with their performance either which is surprising.
03:01They played very well. It came right down to the end. They could have easily stolen game one. Tyrese
03:05Halliburton basically saying hey look game ones have not been our friend but there's still a long
03:09series to go. Free throws given up? Turnovers yeah. I think it's more on us. I think you know
03:18they're a great defensive team. They got you know great great defenders individual and team
03:23defenders. But they're not they're not a team who forces a ton of turnovers. You know they're a
03:27solid solid team. You know I just felt like we a lot of more of them were probably on us than them
03:33them forcing them. So we got to clean that up. And you know outside of tonight and one game
03:39in last series we've really taken care of the ball. So we'll fix it in game two. Ty is it more
03:45discouraging because you lose a game like this in a heartbreaking fashion or encouraging knowing
03:50you were toe-to-toe and really you didn't they didn't win this game you guys lost it? Well they
03:56did win and we did lose. I think encouraging I mean we know we can play with these guys. I mean
04:04that's for y'all to say that we don't you know there's a lot of people out here saying we don't
04:07belong here. We don't really care. We know we belong. I think it's discouraging just because
04:13of the plays that that happened you know down the stretch we feel like we were in position to win
04:18the game and just didn't win the game. But what I say well what I will say is encouraging is we
04:23have been trash in game ones first series and second series. And today we played great for
04:29about 47 minutes. You know just didn't didn't sustain it for 48. So we'll go back watch the
04:34film there'll be good there'll be bad and we'll learn from it and we'll be a lot better in game
04:38two. Yeah trash is not the way I would describe the Pacers. We played very well. They're here in
04:43the East Finals. All right speaking of the future of the NBA it looks like the NBA is closing on
04:48to this new deal with the network NBC. You've heard of them? ESPN, Amazon it could be a trio
04:54of companies. Sports Business Journal is also planning says they're planning on airing a
04:58basketball night in America right after Sunday night football's NBC. So that should be
05:05interesting to see how they end up doing that. Also the inside the NBA still to be determined where
05:09they would head. We'll talk more to Simon about this later in the show. Chris Stapps Porzingis
05:13could be back for the Celtics. It looks like game four. Good news for them making progress after
05:18straining his right calf. He's been out since April the 30th and missed the semifinal series over the
05:25Cleveland Cavaliers. Meanwhile the awards keep coming in for Victor Wembenyama. Another one
05:31first place votes for Rookie of the Year and now All-Defensive First Team. How about that? He's
05:38made it and he just becomes the sixth unanimous rookie voted Rookie of the Year in NBA history
05:43with Ralph Sampson, David Robinson, Blake Griffin, Damian Lillard and Carl Anthony Towns. And
05:48obviously is just having this incredible run here as time progresses. We'll see if he ends up being
05:55an NBA MVP. LaMelo Ball meanwhile after a game in the NBA some fans were waiting to get his
06:01autograph and apparently they did not. There was an 11 year old that was waiting outside their
06:05stadium. Ball did not sign autographs and apparently ran the kid over. I mean I said apparently
06:11because we've got no video to justify this. His mom says that he ran over his foot with his car
06:17breaking it and so now he's being sued. And we'll see if anything ends up coming of this. But
06:22naturally the players are not obligated to sign autographs after the game but they're also
06:27obligated to not run over your foot. So in the end we'll see if this means anything. Ranger Suarez
06:31meanwhile has been the best pitcher on the Phillies. One of the best in the National League.
06:35Imanaga and him have been toe-to-toe. He threw a great game again yesterday. Ten strikeouts for
06:40Ranger Suarez. Phillies have won 35 games. That's the most in Major League Baseball. Bryce Harper
06:46also hit a home run. By the way the Phillies have won 35 of their first 49 games. Second time in
06:51franchise history. Yes they've been the very best team in baseball. A lot thanks to Ranger Suarez,
06:56Zach Wheeler and Aaron Nola. Those three have been great. Meanwhile last night O'Neill Cruz
07:01broke the StatCast record. Multiple hits over 120 miles an hour. Cruz opened up the Pirates
07:087-6 win over San Francisco with a single in the first inning. 120 miles an hour. It's the exit
07:14velocities by the way in that game last night in general are up. So I think we're gonna look
07:18into this a little bit more. But O'Neill Cruz has the hardest hit ball of the season. Meanwhile Barry
07:23Bonds' career where it all started is heading back to Pittsburgh. He's being inducted into the
07:28Pirates Hall of Fame this summer along with Jim Leland and former catcher Manny Sanghi. And again
07:34Bonds not in the Baseball Hall of Fame but absolutely should be in the Pirates Hall of Fame. Had a great
07:38start to his career there. Also three afternoon baseball games today including Twins Nationals,
07:42Mets Guardians and Orioles and Cardinals. In the National Football League they're looking to an
07:47electronic system for measuring first downs. What took so long I have no idea. But there's a chance
07:53that this tracking system will be fully implemented when the season begins in 2024. The traditional
08:00chains and sticks will be a backup plan for the NFL. This digital system will be brand new. Also
08:07Brandon Ayoub not at OTAs. He wants to be paid. Rashi Rice the photographer who said Rashi Rice
08:12punched him has asked police to drop the charges. So that's good news for him if that ends up
08:16becoming true. And also Louisiana sportsbook in the month of April. How about this. Forty point four
08:21million dollars gross sports betting revenue. Great month for Louisiana.
