00:00 The Bloodline story continues to take a new shape and a new form with its newest revelation
00:11 of players.
00:12 After multiple structural changes in 2023 that saw the honorary member Sami Zayn defecting
00:18 and costing the Usos their record-breaking tag team titles, the Usos breaking up and
00:23 Jimmy rejoining the faction only to be kicked out eight months later, Roman Reigns being
00:28 humbled back into humanity by Cody Rhodes.
00:31 Yeah, 2024 saw more major shifts and The Rock, the biggest movie star in the world, would
00:38 be the biggest addition to the Bloodline so far.
00:41 But the Samoan faction that has ruled over wrestling is truly reeling and on the ropes.
00:47 But around this same time, it was rumored that another name, the Samoan Werewolf, could
00:53 be howling his way into the WWE with a long-anticipated contract.
01:00 Let's get into it.
01:01 This is Sportskeeda Wrestling.
01:03 I'm Kevin.
01:04 Let us know what you think of the new names and the new big name coming to WWE to join
01:09 the Bloodline, reportedly.
01:11 Jacob Fatu has been dubbed the Samoan Werewolf for all of the right reasons.
01:16 And although it's not officially announced by any of the parties involved, when the rumor
01:21 got going around WrestleMania 40 that this superstar signing was actually going to happen,
01:26 that traction with multiple sources were reporting it, it normally turns out to be quite true.
01:32 And it was expected that Fatu would make his debut a little bit after WrestleMania 40.
01:37 And it was also kind of obvious where he was going to be slotted in with his family roots,
01:43 the Bloodline.
01:44 Instead, in a big twist, it was adopted son of Haku, Tama Tonga, who had success in New
01:49 Japan Pro Wrestling, who would come in and replace Jimmy Uso in the Bloodline in their
01:53 post-WrestleMania shakeup.
01:56 A month later, his brother Tonga Loa, who also had success in New Japan Pro Wrestling
02:00 and a previous run in WWE, would make a shocking return and become the Bloodline's newest member
02:06 at Backlash.
02:07 While both Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa debuted, there was only one question on the minds of
02:13 smart wrestling fans following those dirt sheets.
02:17 When on Earth were we going to get the seismic impact of this Jacob Fatu that we've been
02:22 hearing about?
02:23 It doesn't seem to be the case with WWE being out of touch, but simply a calculated presentation
02:30 of when Jacob will make his presence known and have the most impact possible.
02:35 There was even rumors going around that WWE was worried that Jacob Fatu would outshine
02:41 Solo Sakoa, the de facto leader of the Bloodline, in Roman Reigns' absence.
02:46 While there's a good chance that the report is just internet gossip, it seems like the
02:51 conversation among fans who are aware of Jacob Fatu's body of work means that there's some
02:56 real potential there.
02:57 Does it seem inevitable that Jacob Fatu will actually outshine Solo Sakoa?
03:02 That's just speculative at this point.
03:04 So before we dive into how Jacob Fatu is going to change the Bloodline and maybe WWE from
03:10 this point forward, let's introduce you to this guy they're calling the Samoan Werewolf.
03:15 At 6 foot even and 279 pounds, he is seen by many as one of the most agile and dynamic
03:22 big men in pro wrestling.
03:25 Imagine someone who doesn't look like a cruiserweight, but can move like Rey Mysterio with a lot
03:31 more weight on him.
03:32 He's had some of the most impressive matches outside of WWE, and beyond that, he comes
03:38 from the gigantic Anoahe family tree.
03:41 Let's explain where he comes from with all of those very gifted genetics.
03:46 Fatu is the son of Sam Fatu, who went widely by the name the Tonga Kid and even Tama for
03:52 a while.
03:53 He too had some success in televised pro wrestling.
03:56 Sam Fatu is the nephew of Appa and Sika Anoahe.
04:00 Sika is Roman Reigns' father.
04:02 They were the Wild Samoans, widely regarded as one of the greatest tag teams of the 1980s
04:08 and the WWE Hall of Famers.
04:10 Anyway, Sam Fatu is the twin brother of Rikishi, which means that the late great Umaga was
04:16 also his brother.
04:18 So yeah, the roots run deep for him.
04:21 He's familiar with quite a few people that are already successful in WWE.
04:25 Sam Fatu is best known for being a part of the team of the Islanders, along with Haku,
04:31 who we previously mentioned is the father of Tama and Tonga Loa.
04:35 So in addition to being the direct cousin to the Usos, Solo Sukoa, Roman Reigns, Jacob
04:39 Fatu has ties to Tama and Tonga because his father's long time association with Haku.
04:46 Yeah, this guy can move and he's got a lot of connections in this business.
04:52 He's been getting ready for this opportunity for quite some time.
04:56 So what is all this hype about?
04:57 Trust us when we say this, this isn't just any wrestler.
05:01 Jacob Fatu is different from every single member of the Anoahe family that he'll be
05:06 compared to.
05:07 We're talking past and present.
05:09 So what exactly has his wrestling career looked like before signing with the WWE?
05:15 You would think that simply watching several of his family members succeed in wrestling
05:20 would be enough to motivate him to lace up the boots.
05:24 But he actually ended up getting the motivation under different circumstances.
05:28 Yes, he did get inspired watching his cousins, the Usos, debut on Raw in 2010, but he didn't
05:34 do it sitting in the comfort of his home.
05:37 The 18-year-old Jacob Fatu watched his cousins debut while sitting in a jail cell, serving
05:42 time for robbery.
05:44 According to Jacob himself, this inspired him to turn his life around and within two
05:48 years he began training under his uncle Rikishi.
05:52 Some might argue that having direct connections with multiple past and future WWE Hall of
05:57 Famers made it easy for someone like him to find work.
06:01 And while it might be true to some extent, can you really blame anybody here?
06:05 He would go on to spend most of his 20s earning his chops and honing his craft on the independent
06:10 wrestling scene, primarily for the West Coast of California.
06:14 He often teamed with his fellow Samoan family members like Black Pearl, and Jacob Fatu took
06:18 his time finally beginning to unlock his true potential before the major leagues were coming.
06:25 And by major leagues, we mean Major League Wrestling, or MLW, where he got his first
06:31 opportunity signing a multi-year contract with the promotion led by former WWE writer
06:36 Kurt Bauer.
06:37 It was the first time Fatu got to be seen by a relatively bigger audience and be on
06:43 television.
06:44 It was like lightning in a bottle for both him and MLW.
06:47 And by this point, he was seven years into his wrestling career, and MLW knew the potential
06:52 they had with him.
06:53 Along with creating a stable featuring stars like himself and ex-WWE superstar Simon Gotch,
06:58 Fatu took only a little over half a year to capture the MLW World Heavyweight Championship
07:05 from former UFC fighter Tom Lawler.
07:07 They began a dominant 819-day run as MLW World Heavyweight Champion, during which he headlined
07:15 their first ever pay-per-view and defeated Mexican wrestling legend, L.A. Park.
07:20 MLW and Jacob Fatu really proved to be a match made in heaven, which is probably why he was
07:26 their world champion for over two years.
07:29 Looks like record-breaking title reigns are not just something that happens for certain
07:33 members of the Anoahe family.
07:36 Fatu proved to be dominant in every sense of the word, but it really was the "it" factor
07:42 that he had.
07:43 He showed during this time that led to major multiple wrestling promotions having their
07:48 eyes on him.
07:50 He seemed to have it all.
07:51 Like we said, he can move like a cruiserweight and had the power of a heavyweight.
07:55 His speed and power combined led to him hitting his opponents like a wrecking ball at full
08:01 speed while still giving you a sneer and grimacing look that could stop a semi-truck.
08:06 Oh, and those Samoan drops?
08:09 Nobody in the world does it better than him.
08:12 His character was presented as it should be, dominant and ruthless.
08:17 During that MLW run, he even turned babyface and showed that he had a dynamic ability to
08:23 be a good guy and play the other side of the table.
08:27 Proving his versatility as a performer, which is arguably one of the most important traits
08:31 that any wrestler needs, especially if they want to make it in WWE in the future, just
08:36 watch Jacob Fatu's match against his Contra Unit member, the 7-foot-tall Mads Kruger.
08:43 It was a weapon of mass destruction match and proved how great he works as a good guy.
08:50 Seriously, you need to watch it.
08:52 It's free on MLW's YouTube channel.
08:54 You can also check out a bunch of his other big matches there too.
08:57 And if you're wondering what the hell a weapons of mass destruction match is, it's basically
09:01 a No DQ, anything goes type of match, but with the military-grade equipment fortified
09:06 around ringside.
09:08 It's also military cases containing mysterious weapons.
09:11 If you're not wondering, that sounds freaking awesome.
09:14 And when we describe the It Factor, we should clarify that it's a combination of multiple
09:19 traits, a dominant in-ring persona, a versatility in character, and very importantly, the ability
09:26 to tell a story in the ring.
09:29 That ability to pace it the right way and tell the story bell to bell is far superior
09:35 than just flashy moves.
09:37 Certainly those help, but Fatu is the type of guy who could do both and use one to prop
09:43 up the other.
09:45 For five years, he grinded it out and made a name for himself as one of the premier talents
09:50 in wrestling outside of WWE.
09:53 And yeah, we're not talking about AEW.
09:55 He's the guy that put MLW on the map.
09:58 For those watching, it was a beautiful culmination of a wrestler putting in years of hard work
10:03 and efforts finally coming to fruition.
10:05 During the duration of the Bloodline story, he was asked multiple times in interviews
10:09 about his thoughts on the Bloodline, his family, what they were doing, and more importantly,
10:14 if people were ever going to see him in that mix.
10:18 His response was always stoic and mature, understanding that while he would love the
10:23 opportunity to be with his family members in the WWE, it would happen if it was meant
10:28 to be.
10:29 And if it wasn't, he could still enjoy watching his family killing it and being a fan while
10:34 he killed it himself.
10:35 But as the Bloodline story progressed, and Fatu himself also progressed on his own path
10:40 and MLW and other promotions, the question really became about not if, but when he would
10:46 sign with WWE.
10:48 Booker T, who is also directly associated with Zilla Fatu, the son of Umaga and Jacob's
10:53 cousin, revealed in an interview with WrestleRant that he was personally trying to ensure that
11:00 Jacob Fatu got signed by WWE.
11:03 It's important worth noting that WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has his own wrestling training
11:08 school, Reality of Wrestling, and that he has so much experience that it only takes
11:12 him two minutes to recognize that someone has "it" or they don't.
11:17 Booker T's words might be prophetic in time, but when you hear the words come from his
11:22 mouth, you will never forget Jacob Fatu.
11:25 When 2024 came around, it was revealed that Jacob Fatu was not signing a new deal with
11:31 MLW, making him the hottest free agent in pro wrestling.
11:37 One can only imagine that companies like New Japan Pro Wrestling, AEW, and WWE were all
11:44 keeping their tabs on his status.
11:46 Unlike many of his other cousins, he avoided taking the conventional path to WWE and made
11:52 the wise choice of working his way up to the point where he simply could not be denied.
11:59 Even wrestling veteran Jim Cornette, who is one of the hardest critics of everything in
12:04 wrestling, let out a big "AWOOOO" at the reports that Fatu was signing with WWE and
12:11 couldn't help but contain his excitement for what could be in the future.
12:16 It's been clear for a while now that many important people in the wrestling industry
12:21 have their eyes on Jacob Fatu, and while using his Samoan heritage and his influence of his
12:26 family to build his character, Fatu has managed to take it on to an entirely different level
12:32 and separate himself from the rest, all by his own merit, bell to bell.
12:37 You may not believe this when we say this, but all of what we've mentioned so far is
12:41 only really scratching the surface of why there's so much hype around this man.
12:46 So let's get to the heart of what this video is about in the first place.
12:50 What exactly is Jacob Fatu going to do in the bloodline in WWE?
12:56 If it wasn't clear enough by now, he is completely a different wrestler than his cousins or anybody
13:01 before him in the great Anawahi dynasty.
13:05 There's nothing wrong with them, but there's something special about him.
13:09 We're not going to go into details of how he can be introduced in WWE or just straight-up
13:13 fantasy book him, but his presence alone is going to send shockwaves through the bloodline.
13:19 He needs to be more than just an enforcer.
13:21 We've seen enforcer roles before time and time again, and sure, they have their place,
13:27 but this is Jacob Fatu.
13:28 He's so much more than just a simple supporting character, an enforcer.
13:32 He needs to be an assassin of the bloodline, a lethal warhead.
13:39 Now obviously, this is pure speculation, but there seems to be signs leading to a bloodline
13:44 civil war down the line.
13:46 Roman Reigns' absence, Solo Sakoa's takeover, the possibility of a certain TKO board member
13:52 pulling the strings, the new names entering the mix, the divide, the tensions, they all
13:58 point to a future crushing war within the family of wrestling's biggest dynasty.
14:06 Whether he plays Roman Reigns' secret weapon or The Rock's tool of destruction, Jacob may
14:13 very well steal the spotlight and maybe even become the biggest focus of the bloodline.
14:19 And if you're saying, "What?
14:21 He can do it," there's a bit of a risk that WWE has with the storyline that has been going
14:26 through nearly half a decade now.
14:29 But this storyline has a legacy of decades before in real life to build upon, and Jacob
14:36 is a part of that.
14:37 Could we fall into the same issues that WCW had with the NWO faction that was so, so over
14:43 by prolonging the story on years end and years end?
14:48 Yeah, before it eventually dried up.
14:50 Thankfully, WWE has the benefit and hindsight to learn from those mistakes of the past.
14:55 Jacob Fah 2 and company have the potential to become central figures in this storyline
15:00 very quickly and could even take the role of maybe greater importance than Roman Reigns.
15:06 I know, once again, you're going to be freaking out in the comments after that one.
15:09 This isn't to say that he's going to be the star at Roman Reigns' caliber, but the ultimate
15:15 goal should be turning Jacob Fah 2 into a superstar in his own right in the years to
15:21 come.
15:22 WWE needs to play into the mystique he has and protect him the same way he's been protected
15:28 by many wrestling companies before, big or small.
15:31 They all knew he wasn't just another guy.
15:34 And while the pillars of the story might be the big names, Roman, Solo, The Usos, maybe
15:39 even The Rock, Jacob is likely going to be set up as the biggest threat from the family
15:45 as he should be presented.
15:47 Their role will be in making him, his role will be in making them.
15:52 The bloodline is going to be way too big at this point to keep them as one steady unit.
15:58 And perhaps it's Jacob Fah 2, as well as the return of Roman, that will finally see the
16:02 bloodline officially split into two separate factions.
16:07 In conclusion, it's all a matter of timing when it comes to Jacob Fah 2 and his WWE debut.
16:13 The bloodline is setting up a new generation, and Jacob is a prime position player to be
16:19 a breakout star from this batch.
16:22 We can understand that some people are saying that Jacob Fah 2 should be kept away from
16:26 the Anoa'i family and allowed to shine on his own.
16:29 But considering how things seem to be getting set up with Roman, Solo, Sokoa, possibly The
16:35 Rock and others, it only makes sense that Jacob Fah 2 will be the one to shake up the
16:41 bloodline forever.
16:43 Imagine him defeating Roman Reigns in a one-sided match like we've seen before.
16:48 His impact will hopefully last longer after the entire faction dissolves on camera for
16:54 good.
16:55 Oh, you want to know the crazy part?
16:57 Jacob Fah 2 has seven freaking children, so the future of the Anoa'i family seems to be
17:02 more secure than ever.
17:04 Thank you for watching, and don't forget to check out our video on the extensive history
17:08 of the Anoa'i family in the Samoan Wrestling Dynasty.
