00:00 John Cartwright is an ex-Tulle FC head coach who you will take over at the end of the year once he's finished his commitments with Brisbane Broncos.
00:15 He's an assistant coach there, works alongside Lee Brears and under Kevin Walters.
00:21 He helped lead the club to the NRL Grand Final last year.
00:25 He's got a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach.
00:30 He's only held one head coach role, that was with Gold Coast Titans from their inaugural season for eight years.
00:37 Either side of that he's worked for Sydney Roosters, Penrith Panthers, North Queensland Cowboys, Manly and now at Brisbane.
00:46 So he's been around, he knows his stuff.
00:49 He's also a player of some repute as well, he represented Penrith throughout his career in Australia.
00:56 He played for Australia, the national team. He played for New South Wales as well.
01:03 So he should know his stuff, we'll see when he arrives, he's got a big job on his hands.
01:08 It won't be an easy fix at all as director of rugby Richie Milo is at pains to stress recently.
01:14 But it is a route that has been successful in the recent past for clubs like Wigan and St Helens.
01:21 Wigan put Michael Maguire from an assistant coach role.
01:25 He led the Warriors to a first title in 12 years.
01:29 St Helens with Justin Holbrook and Christian Wolfe, they oversaw the 4p at St Helens.
01:35 So it has had success, there's no guarantee.
01:39 But like I say he's got a lot of experience, he's been around some great coaches as well.
01:43 So it could be a bit of a masterstroke for Hull, they've been forced down this route to some extent.
01:48 They missed out on Paul Rowley who was their top target.
01:51 They've had some informal discussions with other coaches in Super League like Adrian Lambie.
01:56 He's since re-signed with Lee Leopard so we'll see how it goes.
02:00 But on the face of it, it looks like a good appointment for Hull.
02:04 But like I say he's got a big job on his hands and he'll need to hit the ground running next year.
02:08 And really start to get stuck into that rebuild because it is a big rebuild.
