00:00 A long-awaited new playground is set to open in Leeds, much to the delight of locals.
00:09 Residents in Wortley have been pushing for the new fixture at Western Flats Cliff Park
00:13 for some years, and work started in January this year.
00:17 The work has been funded from Section 106 money from a development of new houses in
00:21 the area.
00:22 The new playground has been designed for tots to teens, and includes a wheelchair accessible
00:27 roundabout which was funded by the Outer West Community Committee.
00:31 Local resident Liam Sowden visited the park with his drone during the development and
00:35 captured photos during each stage of the works.
00:39 More than a thousand people signed a petition calling for improvements to the park in 2021,
00:45 and the new facility features swings, a zip-line, a climbing frame and other play equipment.
00:51 All are welcome to the official opening of the park on Sunday 9th June.
