00:00 Good afternoon, everyone. This is police week. And so let me begin on behalf of
00:09 the House Democratic Caucus
00:10 to express our sincere thanks, gratitude and appreciation for the men and women
00:21 of law enforcement who wear the uniform
00:26 in order to protect and serve communities all across the nation,
00:30 including back home
00:32 in Brooklyn.
00:34 We look forward to House Democrats to
00:38 continuing to find ways to strengthen the relationship
00:41 between the police and the community for the good of everyone.
00:49 It's also our view that we should honor
00:54 the men and women of law enforcement who on January 6th
00:58 sacrificed
01:01 it all put their lives on the line and at risk
01:07 in order to defend the Congress, defend the Constitution
01:11 and defend the core values in our country, such as the peaceful transfer
01:17 of power.
01:18 There is a law on the books
01:23 that requires the Congress
01:25 to designate
01:27 a place of significance
01:30 in the capital
01:32 to honor
01:34 the men and women of law enforcement, including the Capitol Police and the
01:40 Metropolitan Police Department and many others who responded
01:46 on that fateful day to put down a violent insurrection.
01:53 It's time for House Republicans
01:55 to honor the men and women of law enforcement
01:59 who saved lives that day,
02:04 including Democrats and Republicans are staff members and, most importantly,
02:12 defended the Constitution.
