00:00Now, I'm going to tell you something you might not be ready to hear, but it's time
00:03you fully accepted it.
00:05Selling Sunset is mostly staged and scripted.
00:08Cruchel didn't just get a job at an estate agent's, she's an actress!
00:13Professional wrestling, however, is 100% unscripted and real, that's a fact.
00:17But in some corners of the dark web, people like Ben Shapiro and Alex Jones, I guess,
00:21are peddling goddamn filthy lies.
00:23Lies, I tell thee!
00:25That wrestling might just be predetermined.
00:28To them, I say, you try climbing a ladder in a high-pressure situation.
00:33It slows you down and takes a really long time.
00:35Like a really long time.
00:38Like okay, you can probably definitely reach that prize now.
00:42It's still real to me, dammit!
00:44But just for an intellectual exercise, let's look at the so-called evidence where the secrets
00:50of how wrestling really works were mistakenly exposed, in moments the audience weren't
00:56supposed to see.
00:57I'm Oli Davis, hailing from partsFUNknown, and this is 10 Times Wrestling Accidentally
01:02Exposed Its Secrets… on Air.
01:05But before we get on with that list, I just want to give a shoutout to your local hometown,

01:36below.
01:37Stick around until the end of the video for more on that.
01:4010.
01:41The Invisible Hand Moves Drew McIntyre's Table
01:43No, not the Invisible Hand job, Don Callis.
01:46Although if Don Callis was under the ring here, this would be an even bigger secret
01:49than I first thought.
01:50At Hell in a Cell 2021, Drew McIntyre challenged Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship, and
01:56they had a pretty solid match all things considered.
01:59One of the biggest spots of the match saw Lashley slam McIntyre off the apron through
02:03a table at ringside.
02:05Ouchies.
02:06Or maybe not ouchies.
02:08The move was filmed with Bubbles throwing Drew out of shot.
02:11The camera then cut to McIntyre laying in the rubble, where there was a hand sticking
02:15out from under the ring, sliding a chunk of the table under Drew.
02:19We never actually saw the table break.
02:22This was in the lockdown era of WWE, still being shot with no crowd in the Thunderdome.
02:27Drew had not actually taken the devastating bump to the floor we thought he had, but rather
02:32it was all smoke and mirrors made possible by a lack of a live audience.
02:369.
02:37The Referee Slides Becky a Chair Sometimes life just feels a little bit out
02:42of reach.
02:43And by life, I mean a chair when you're trapped in a figure four leg lock and wrapped
02:46up in a ladder.
02:47But that is also still sometimes how life feels literally.
02:50Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch's last women's standing match at WWE's Evolution pay-per-view
02:55was one of the best WWE main roster matches of 2018.
02:59The two women batted each other over the SmackDown Women's Championship, but there was one
03:03spot that broke the fourth wall.
03:05Lynch was supposed to break up the ladder-assisted figure four leg lock by hitting Charlotte
03:09with a chair.
03:10Her only problem was she couldn't quite reach it.
03:13So the referee very clearly puts his foot on top of the chair and slides it to Becky
03:18to free herself.
03:19Although given reports that nobody likes Flair backstage, maybe the ref just wanted her to
03:23lose.
03:248.
03:25Blindfold Eye Holes On Display Blindfold matches are never really any good.
03:29I don't know about all of you, but whenever I'm watching one, I'm like, hey, I wish
03:33the audience had blindfolds on too, am I right?
03:37Yeah, you're right Oli, that's a good observation.
03:42Other fans not being able to see sure would have helped Jake The Snake Roberts and Rick
03:45Martel's blindfold match at WrestleMania 7.
03:48Because while the referees are helping them put bags on their heads before the match began,
03:52you can very clearly see mesh eye holes in Jake's.
03:567.
03:57Sin Cara's Trampoline Shown On Camera The original Sin Cara, Sin Cara Uno let's
04:01say, will likely go down in history as one of the botchiest botchers in the history of
04:05botchedom.
04:06But this botch wasn't really actually his fault, it was WWE Productions.
04:11Sin Cara used to enter the ring by leaping from the ground all the way over the top rope.
04:18It was supposed to give you the impression of his extraordinary athleticism, his near
04:23superhuman jumping power.
04:24Which is slightly undone when you see the mini trampoline he was using by the ring.
04:29After WrestleMania 27, the original Sin Cara made his WWE debut, where the camera showed
04:35him pointing to the ring and, well, there's the trampoline.
04:38It's right there.
04:40I mean, of course he was using a trampoline to do the spot, it's not like I believed
04:44he was flying or anything.
04:45But actually seeing the thing is like leaving in the wires holding up Spider-Man in a Marvel
04:49fight scene.
04:50Kinda takes you out of it.
04:51Unless it's emo Spidey, I love that guy.
04:556.
04:56John Cena Drops His Blade By October 2009, WWE was as deep in PG territory
05:01as a penis in your mum.
05:03Mum joke!
05:04I totally mum joked you!
05:05They even avoided saying the word asshole when Triple H described Legacy as like butts,
05:10but not so much the cheek, but more the little centre part.
05:14But that PG veil was nearly torn apart when John Cena dropped a razor blade during his
05:18Hell in a Cell match with Randy Orton.
05:20Cena takes a bump, and right in the view of the camera, a blade falls out and lands on
05:25the mat.
05:26Crazily, the last guy to blade in WWE prior to this was Batista, and he was fined $100,000
05:33for it.
05:35The way the implement, used by wrestlers to cut themselves in matches to pretend they've
05:38been busted open by a move, was shocking, especially with it being dropped by the face
05:43of WWE PG.
05:44The referee picked the blade up, and it was never used.
05:485.
05:49Chris Jericho's Insane Grip Strength
05:51Chris Jericho likes to talk about himself.
05:53He has more gimmicks than the next relaunch of NXT, and he's been bringing up beating
05:57The Rock and Steve Austin in one night for about 15 years straight.
06:00So why doesn't he ever brag about his Herculean grip strength?
06:04In his rivalry with CM Punk over the WWE Championship in 2012, Jericho targeted Punk's straight-edge
06:10lifestyle.
06:11In one segment, Jericho went to hit Punk over the head with a whiskey bottle, only for the
06:16glass to turn to dust in his hands, resulting in Jericho just kind of splashing Punk with
06:22booze.
06:23The power of Christ compels thee.
06:24No, Jericho didn't have an infinity gauntlet, you nerd.
06:27This was clearly a prop sugar glass bottle designed to safely shatter, which is preferable
06:31to breaking a real glass bottle over someone's head, because that would be a murder.
06:36And as if the angle being ruined by that wasn't enough, Jericho slipped and fell over right
06:40after.
06:414.
06:42An Amplifier Shown Under The Ring
06:43Have you ever noticed that when you go to a live wrestling event, the bumps are like
06:47really loud?
06:48Much louder than you thought they would be from watching on television.
06:51The reason for this is WWE amplifies the sounds of the matches by putting audio equipment
06:56under the ring to broadcast the noise through the arena's speakers.
07:00On one occasion, though, they accidentally let the fans in on this trick.
07:03At Bad Blood 1997, Sgt.
07:06Slaughter made sure to shine a flashlight under the ring to make sure there was no one
07:09trying to interfere in the first ever Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and
07:14Shawn Michaels.
07:15In doing so, he shined a light right on an amplifier that WWE had under there.
07:21This is probably the only time on television that WWE has given a detailed view of what
07:26goes on beneath the mat.
07:27Unless you count that time DX crawled under the ring into a mini-universe of hornswoggles
07:31and its many people's court.
07:333.
07:34Chris Jericho's Crash Pads
07:36There have been many, many examples of wrestling promotions using crash pads to make sure their
07:41performers don't get injured in major spots.
07:43The Undertaker chokeslammed Triple H to his doom at WrestleMania X-Seven, which the replay
07:47then revealed as a nice cushiony crash pad.
07:50Jeff Hardy did a huge Swanton Bomb onto a margar off a TV truck at One Night Stand 2008,
07:55but then the camera moved past some conveniently placed crates to expose crash pads stacked
07:59on top.
08:00But the most recently egregious example of this came with Chris Jericho's swan dive
08:04off the Blood and Guts Cage, courtesy of MJF.
08:07Now, nobody is saying here that Jericho should have actually taken that bump for real.
08:12It would have been a murder.
08:13It was production's fault for showing the crash mat so much.
08:17Unfortunately, with it being the climactic spot, it became the main talking point after
08:21an otherwise excellent and emotional bout.
08:242.
08:26Stop Wrestling During the Commercials
08:27The start of the pandemic was a weird time.
08:30Nobody really knew how to act in real life, let alone how to produce a wrestling show
08:33stripped of 90% of its production and a live audience.
08:37So Triple H just decided to make his version of the Tim and Eric show.
08:40Stone Cold cut a promo to a load of empty chairs on Raw and kicked Byron Saxton in the
08:44dick.
08:45And Hunter joined commentary on SmackDown and coloured in Michael Cole's soul patch.
08:49But the lasting moment from those early days was the very first match of the pandemic era
08:54of Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs Sasha Banks and Bayley.
08:57When the show cut to a commercial break, with no crowd there live, the wrestlers… just
09:02stopped wrestling.
09:03Not like sit in a rest hold, which is often the case during commercials, it literally
09:08stopped.
09:09There was no one in the venue to wrestle for, so during the ad break, the women involved
09:13just hung out.
09:14This wasn't their fault, the footage wasn't supposed to get out.
09:18But an international broadcaster accidentally aired the commercial break, prompting WWE
09:23to then tell all performers to wrestle during the ads.
09:261.
09:27The Rock promo notes on his wrist
09:30Scripted promos, in general, don't work.
09:32They come across as robotic, and when the wrestlers literally have the scripts in shot,
09:36it kind of takes you out of the realism.
09:38Like when Tucker was shown throwing his promo notes on the ground in a backstage segment,
09:42Paul Heyman's visible notes during an episode of Talking Smack and whatever this promo was
09:47from Aaliyah where she looks down as often as Kevin Dunn cuts the camera.
09:51Rock the Dwayne Johnson, though, doesn't need any of that.
09:53He's one of the greatest promos of all time, arguably the most charismatic talker in wrestling
09:58history.
09:59So seeing his promo bullet points on his wrist in a 2012 segment with John Cena punctured
10:04not only wrestling in that moment, but the mythology of the Dwayne Spontaneously Electric
10:10Persona from the Attitude Era.
10:12You could clearly see a bullet point list sharpied on his wrist for a promo ahead of
10:16his WrestleMania 28 match with Cena.
10:19It was so obvious, Cena directly referenced it.
10:22Rock was visibly rattled by being called out, causing him to stumble and stutter the rest
10:27of his promo.
10:28Professional wrestling's trick up its sleeve had literally been exposed.
10:31If professional wrestling wore sleeves, that is.
10:34Which it doesn't.
10:36Now here's YouTube's Adam Blampied with a message from our fantastic sponsor.
