00:00 So I'm here with Tracy today. Tracy, what's going on?
00:04 So today is the launch of the Hartlepool Poverty Truth Commission, so we're very excited and looking forward to what's going to happen.
00:11 What is the Poverty Truth Commission?
00:13 So the Poverty Truth Commission is a particular way of working where you work with people in the community who live in disadvantage or struggle with poverty
00:21 and we also work alongside civic and business leaders who have the power to create change.
00:26 So today is an opportunity for people in poverty to speak their truth to power and then following from today,
00:33 and the civic and business leaders will listen, and then following from today,
00:38 then they will come together as a whole group and collectively address some of the issues that people are struggling with in Hartlepool.
00:46 The Poverty Truth Commission is a really important piece of work we're doing as a town.
00:50 We're trying to understand what it is like for our people in the town, what they're living in, what help they need, what support they need,
00:57 and how they can get that lift up out of poverty because no one wants to live like that.
01:01 And how do you think this commission is going to help the town?
01:04 I believe it will help the town because it will highlight the issues that people face and then they can tell us what they need
01:09 rather than us trying to do what we think they need.
01:12 We don't really understand how people live and what they need and it's about them telling us so we can help them.
