00:00 This week's weather won't be as sunny or as warm as it was for many at the weekend,
00:06 but there will still be some warm sunshine.
00:08 There will also be quite a few heavy showers around.
00:11 The reason for that lurking behind me, an area of low pressure.
00:15 This will dominate our weather throughout the working week,
00:18 certainly bringing some pretty soggy conditions on Monday.
00:21 It kind of meanders around though, it doesn't whiz across the UK,
00:24 it just sits to the southwest and eventually fills,
00:27 by which we mean it kind of weakens, the isobars become more spaced out
00:32 and it just drifts down towards the Bay of Biscay.
00:35 Nevertheless, it will be the main player in our weather through the next four or five days.
00:40 And certainly to begin this week, it's providing some pretty wet conditions.
00:44 Slow moving weather front just drifting its way across parts of northern England,
00:49 north Wales, into southern Scotland and Northern Ireland on Tuesday.
00:53 So in this zone, it's going to be grey and the rain will be on and off,
00:57 but mostly on through the day.
00:59 Parts of eastern England may not see too much.
01:01 North East Scotland again doing OK for bright and reasonably warm weather.
01:06 And it will be a much warmer day in Wales and southwest England.
01:09 Some sunny spells coming through here, but there will still be a sprinkling of showers.
01:13 But as I said, much warmer compared to Monday where we had that persistent rain here.
01:17 A cooler day though, where that rain is lying over northern England,
01:21 parts of the east as well.
01:23 And it's cool on the east coast of Scotland,
01:25 but some warmth heading away from that breeze coming in from the sea.
01:29 The low pressure is definitely still with us through Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
01:34 And this weather front is still kind of around as well, steadily fizzling out,
01:39 but providing cloud and outbreaks of rain at times over still parts of eastern England.
01:44 So quite a drab day on these eastern coasts.
01:47 The high may well be returning to the east coast of Scotland as well.
01:50 Again, suppressing the temperatures here.
01:52 But again, western Scotland may well do pretty OK for sunshine during Wednesday.
01:57 Some blue skies here and that's where we'll likely see the top temperatures.
02:01 Further south, a little warmer where it's a bit brighter,
02:03 but the cloud and rain never too far away from the east midlands, east Anglia and the extreme southeast.
02:09 A few scattered showers over Wales and southwest England.
02:12 Some sunny spells likely in northern Ireland.
02:14 By the time we get to Wednesday night and Thursday,
02:16 the low is starting to trickle away, just drifting, meandering down towards the Bay of Biscay.
02:22 Big question mark for Thursday.
02:23 Where does this old weather front lie?
02:26 Likely to provide cloud and some outbreaks of rain over some central areas
02:30 with a few showers and some brighter spells either side.
02:34 Could even still be around somewhere during the course of Friday,
02:37 by which time we're reverting to sunshine and showers across most parts of the country.
02:42 Again, it could be a bit murky on some of these eastern coast, mist and low cloud.
02:47 And where we see showers developing, they could well be heavy, perhaps even thundery in some spots.
02:52 But as is often the case with these late spring showers, they'll be slow moving.
02:58 And if you get the sunshine, it'll feel pretty pleasant in the sunny spells.
03:01 20 degrees, 21, 22.
03:03 And again, western Scotland may well do pretty well for both sunshine and temperatures through this week.
03:08 This graph is showing the temperatures on Friday compared to the average for May.
03:13 Close to average across central and eastern parts, but above average where we see some sunshine,
03:18 particularly western Scotland.
03:20 This is for Friday, but in fact for most of the week, we're going to be above average in western parts of Scotland.
03:25 What happens at the weekends?
03:27 Well, more uncertainty basically around this area of low pressure drifting up from France
03:32 and the exact position of that.
03:34 Likely to provide more showers, but the focus of exactly where they are for that detail.
03:40 Well, stay tuned.
03:42 Come back and join us later this week.
03:44 We'll have more details about the weekend.
03:46 But that's your forecast throughout this week.
