Named after the famous engineer James Brindley - Brindleyplace nowadays is arguably amongst the most attractive parts of Birmingham. The canalside development has a rich history. I'm here today to speak to people about what they think of the aesthetic gem in Birmingham.
Transcript
00:00 Well, I really love Brindley Place. I think the bars are great, it's really close to the theatre.
00:06 The canal side places are absolutely fantastic.
00:09 And of course we've got the Black Sabbath bench here as well, which is just amazing.
00:14 From what I've seen so far, we're on a canal boat for nine weeks.
00:22 And we were rolling up into Birmingham last night, wading through the weeds.
00:33 The canals were a disgusting sight.
00:38 And we holed up just the other side there for the night.
00:43 And then we came in here, it was all pristine, beautiful, sight to see.
00:49 I've not been to Birmingham before.
00:52 Very nice, very friendly. All the areas are very clean, tidy.
00:59 Just a very nice place to actually visit and be around, to be quite honest.
01:04 I think it's really nice, I think it's full of good nightlife.
01:08 I actually look after the bars, restaurants and nightclubs around here.
01:12 I think the canals are a really important aspect.
01:15 I think what's not so good is the fact that there's green moss on the canal by the mailbox.
01:22 I think that reduces the pretty aesthetic that bringing a place in the box holds.
01:27 I think having so many bars and nightlife brings so many people to Birmingham.
01:32 Particularly as well, the ICC and the Symphony Orchestra Hall.
01:36 Bringing lots of different people from around the greater region of the Midlands to Birmingham.
01:41 I think it's really, really important that we continue to support bars and restaurants
01:46 and nightlife around Brindley Place to make sure that it is busy and it is bustling.
01:50 Because it is one of the nicest places in Birmingham.
01:53 And on a day like today, it's absolutely beautiful, especially around the canal.
01:57 Yeah.
01:58 Jess, you are my life.
