00:00 Birmingham City defeated Skybet League 1, the first time Blues have been in the third tier of English football since 1995.
00:09 A horrendous day for the football club, but actually a strong performance on the pitch against the Norwich City side that is chasing for promotion to the Premier League.
00:17 A 1-0 win, Paik Heung-Sung hoes header from a deflected Keshie Anderson cross was enough to seal all three points today, but results elsewhere meant that Blues were relegated.
00:27 Unfortunately, heading into this final day, Birmingham were in the bottom three, one point below Plymouth and three points behind Sheffield Wednesday, three behind Blackburn Rovers.
00:36 All three of those teams winning on the final day, and a remarkable final day in the championship.
00:41 I don't think anyone would have expected all of the teams to go on and win their matches, especially with some of the oppositions they had.
00:47 Plymouth against Hull, Sheffield Wednesday against Sunderland, Blackburn against Leicester.
00:52 Three really tough games for them, and two of those being away from home as well.
00:57 But, as it was, all three of those teams did win, and Birmingham's fate was sealed despite three points being claimed here at St Andrews.
01:05 Gary Rout, his final game in charge in his interim period, eight matches it was, managed three home wins here at St Andrews at Nighthead Park, but ultimately not enough.
01:14 I think the two draws away at Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town will be the ones that people look back at as the recent failures.
01:21 Had they won just one of those matches, Blues would still be in the championship for next season.
01:25 But just the whole campaign on the whole, really, just the inconsistency with managers having six different voices through the course of the 46-match campaign.
01:35 Of course, we couldn't have foreseen what was going to happen with Tony Mowbray.
01:38 That was completely unexpected, but some of the earlier decisions at the start of the campaign could have definitely been helped.
01:44 So I think that's obviously contributed to how things have gone.
01:47 But you can't really deny the fight today against Norwich, a very good performance.
01:51 There were times during the first half where maybe Blues were a little bit passive and they didn't show enough energy.
01:56 But I think it was just recouping that energy to try and push on and get that winning goal.
02:01 And they did, and they did their part.
02:02 And I must say the fans here were fantastic from start to finish.
02:06 Before the game, I don't think I've ever seen it as loud and proud as it was.
02:10 Tom Wagner as well, of course, the owner, he was very present.
02:14 He could have easily stepped away knowing that Birmingham could face relegation today.
02:18 He could have hidden away from it because it's a very difficult day for him.
02:21 He's going to face a lot of criticism.
02:23 But fair play to him.
02:25 He was here as Birmingham were relegated, and the fans, as I said, were absolutely spectacular.
02:30 Lucas Djukovic as well, the club legend, getting on for the final 25 minutes or so.
02:34 I thought, is he going to get that dream goal on his probably last appearance?
02:38 He didn't. He put it wide.
02:40 But nonetheless, some sliding tackles, putting out all his passion onto the field, as he always does.
02:44 It was nice to see.
02:45 But ultimately, a terrible day for Birmingham, and we'll be reflecting on it on birminghamworld.uk.
02:51 Also the press conference from Gary Rowett, David Wagner, some nice words from the Norwich City boss.
02:56 Make sure to catch it all on the website, birminghamworld.uk.
