Work and pensions secretary Mel Stride said an "urgent review" is underway following a cyber attack. Mr Stride insisted the Ministry of Defence acted “swiftly” after a database was hacked, amid reports it was carried out by the Chinese state. Report by Kennedyl. 00:00So it appears that there has been a breach. My understanding, and I'm only reporting what I'm reading in the press at the moment,
00:07is that there has been a data breach relating to people's bank accounts and names.
00:13A very limited element that's to do with people's addresses, but the important thing is that what the Ministry of Defence has done
00:20is cut that from the internet, so taken it offline, are there to advise and support people as necessary.
00:28And of course an urgent review is being taken at the moment. Now Grant Shapps, the Defence Secretary,
00:34will be also making a statement to Parliament this afternoon, and we'll learn more at that point.
