00:00It's budget day in Victoria. We've just come out of budget lock-up and I've read these documents
00:04so you don't have to. Here's what Ballarat's getting in the Victorian state budget for 2024-25.
00:10The government says this is all about helping families. This is going to be a one-off payment
00:13for each government school student of $400 to help with things like school excursions
00:18or different activities that make school more fun. And there'll also be a pedestrian intersection for
00:24the community out in Miners Rest. On the negative side of the budget there's a lot of cost blowouts
00:29for Ballarat. Things like the hospital, an extra $50 million, an extra $10 million for Keep Ballarat
00:35Moving and more money for the Ballarat train station upgrades. All projects that were announced
00:40previously but are costing more because of different accounting reasons or just increased
00:45costs in labour and construction.
