Singer Drew Dixon has played MacMoray Festivals every year it has taken place. All the way from Tennessee, he loves visiting this part of the world and was delighted to step in and play a second set after DJ Sammy's flight was delayed.

00:04 How have you found McMurray for yourself today?
00:06 Oh it's always fantastic man. We're excited to be back for a third year and
00:10 the third year hasn't let us down.
00:11 Is this your third year? Sorry I thought it was just your second year.
00:15 Is that your first time playing the main stage?
00:16 So the first year, so it's the second year playing the main stage.
00:21 First year we were in a tent by the bar, had a lot of fun and then last year we played the
00:26 main stage and the side stage. This year we play the main stage, have an easy weekend.
00:31 So now we get to relax and chill.
00:32 When did you get the call that you were going to have to go on?
00:35 Obviously DJ Sammy couldn't make it. When did you get told you were going to be on the main stage?
00:39 Gosh, I was sitting in the Amsterdam airport on about a five hour layover and
00:47 I honestly I don't know because the time difference is so, it's you know, being from
00:54 Nashville and I was sitting in the airport luckily awake and got the message asking if I was up for
01:01 moving the setup a little bit and I was honored they even asked us to do it because
01:06 both these stages are, the fact how they have the crowd set up and the fact they can just turn their
01:11 heads and watch both stages but they wanted us to hop on the other one. We were honored to do it and
01:17 I was glad how the flights lined up and how the band driving up from England was able to get in
01:22 town in time. It worked out nicely and it worked out alright.
01:25 What is it that attracts you back to Elgin every year? You've performed this festival every time
01:30 it's happened.
01:31 The people man, like everyone, everyone that's here is the best. Everyone from the literally
01:40 the people that were working the bar the first year we played here literally keep in touch with
01:47 me. The people last year that were walking around reach out to me, the people that run the event
01:54 like literally check we check in with each other all year. It's not just a strictly business thing
02:00 it's literally personal. We know each other and we want each other to succeed and it's a beautiful
02:08 thing when you know that you're coming to support something that one of your friends is doing and
02:15 that's why I love coming back here.
02:16 2025 McMurray then is on the cards?
02:20 If they'll have me back, if they'll have me back absolutely I'll be. I can't lie you said 2025
02:26 I was like is that like three years from now? I just skipped ahead that's next year oh my gosh.
02:31 Yes absolutely I'll be here if they ask me I will be here.
02:35 Yes good.
02:35 What's been your highlight of the day?
02:39 Not falling asleep. I haven't slept since Thursday night and it's Saturday night now so
02:44 I'm glad that I was able to not pass out on stage. It's been great seeing everybody that's
02:52 been the highlight and seeing everybody and not just like nodding off while I'm talking to them.
02:57 A few more attendants and you'll sleep well tonight I'm sure.
03:00 Oh my gosh yeah yeah they've been very generous with their whiskey here so I can't complain at
