A Queensland state Labor MP says she was drugged and sexually assaulted in her central Queensland electorate. Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga has taken a temporary leave of absence while police have launched an investigation.

00:27 In a statement posted on social media, the member for Keppel says she contacted police
00:32 early Sunday morning.
00:33 She also says the presence of drugs in her body was confirmed by tests at the hospital
00:38 and the substance impacted her significantly.
00:41 The Queensland Police Service has confirmed they're investigating a sexual assault complaint.
00:46 In a statement, Queensland Premier Stephen Miles says no one should have to go through
00:51 what Brittany is going through.
00:53 He said "my sole focus is on her wellbeing, I've told Brittany that we're here to support
00:57 her whatever she needs."
