00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office. It's a mixed picture
00:05through the rest of the bank holiday weekend and we can see that nicely on the bigger picture.
00:11Low pressure is in charge of our weather but they are fairly weak but slow moving. So areas
00:16of showers and longer spells of rain are possible. But in between there will be some sunny spells
00:22and when we see the sunshine temperatures lifting a little above average for the time
00:27of year and winds generally staying on the light side.
00:30So through this evening a little bit of a north-south split across the UK and it remains
00:34similar overnight too. Northern Ireland, Northern England, Scotland remaining fairly cloudy,
00:40some showery outbreaks of rain in places, a few heavier bursts possible. Generally from
00:44a line Manchester Hall southwards it's quiet, it's dry, plenty of clear skies, some mist
00:50and fog patches forming as winds fall light. But then towards the end of the night some
00:55thicker cloud, patchy rain starts to move into parts of Cornwall as the next low pressure
01:00system begins to move in. In terms of temperatures under the clearest skies dropping into single
01:06figures so quite chilly, 5 or 6 Celsius but under the cloud particularly across the northern
01:10half of the UK remaining in double figures. But it does mean a cloudy damp start across
01:16parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland to begin with, a few glimmers of sunshine possible
01:21across Northern Scotland. Elsewhere some mist and fog patches lifting to allow plenty
01:26of sunny spells. But this weather system does push its way northwards through the day reaching
01:31parts of South Wales, Central, Southern England breaking out into some heavy showers. Some
01:36heavy showers following behind this as well towards the south-west. Through the driest
01:42zone of the UK through this central swathe we'll see some of the highest temperatures
01:4518 to 20 Celsius. Under the cloud a little lower around 14 or 15 degrees. So just feeling
01:52a little cooler here. Into the evening time some heavy showers across Scotland. The odd
01:57rumble of thunder is possible but these start to fade away. Again similar picture across
02:02the rest of England and Wales, Northern Ireland. Clear spells in places, a few heavy showers
02:07later on something a little more organised coming into the south coast. With light winds
02:13again some mist and fog patches forming across central parts of England into Northern England
02:18as well as temperatures start to dip away. But for most under the cloud holding up generally
02:23in double figures. So it's a mixed picture for Bank Holiday Monday. Some outbreaks of
02:28rain which could be heavy at times towards southern and south-eastern parts of England.
02:32This slowly pushing its way north and westwards but hopefully breaking up into a more of a
02:37picture of sunshine and showers into the afternoon. And that's what the picture is like for most
02:43areas on Monday. A mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. Perhaps generally Northern
02:48Ireland, parts of Scotland seeing the cloudier skies but there will be some sunnier breaks
02:52too. And almost anywhere the showers could be on the heavy side. The odd rumble of thunder
02:58possible too. If you manage to avoid the showers it will feel fairly pleasant in the sunshine
03:03once more. Temperatures mid to high teens locally around 20 Celsius across some central
03:08areas. But if you do catch a shower they will be on the sharp side.
03:12As for the evening time on Monday we still have showers around but they do start to fade
03:16away and then high pressure starts to build in for the week ahead bringing plenty of sunshine
03:22and temperatures starting to rise too. See you again soon.
