00:00Hi I'm Sophie May-Lan May-Lin and here are today's headlines. Step into a piece of
00:06history inside this shop which has stood still since 1901. Only now this pocket of
00:13the past at Ernest Whiteley & Co in Bridlington with old ribbons and bows is
00:18for the first time this century to be sold. We also look inside a Yorkshire
00:24village which has curious traditions dating back from coal carrying to a
00:29maypole procession this weekend. Yes I'm talking about Gawthorpe as people head
00:35to the area for processions and parades this early Maybank holiday. Green light
00:41has been given for new homes to be built on the site of a Whitby landslip that
00:45led to the demolition of five cottages. North Yorkshire Council has approved the
00:52construction of three new townhouses on a fledged terrace off Church Street in
00:56Whitby despite multiple objections. The site which has clear views across the
01:02harbour has been vacant for more than a decade after the landslip left the 19th
01:07century cottages hanging over a sheer drop. For all the exclusive articles, news
01:13and more don't forget to subscribe to the Yorkshire Post. Have a great day.
