00:00 Hello. Warmer weather is on the way, but it's not going to be for everyone.
00:05 There is also more rain to come, particularly in western areas, as this chart shows.
00:09 It's the rainfall building up over the next couple of days.
00:13 Notice the yellows, the heaviest rain over the hills across South Wales and southern
00:18 Scotland.
00:19 Another pulse of rain then coming into western areas during Tuesday, whereas all the while
00:24 much of the east of England and northeast of Scotland stays dry.
00:28 This is the reason why. This is the view from space on Monday morning.
00:31 Lots of cloud, a little area of low pressure.
00:34 And this weather front, an occlusion, is gradually working its way in.
00:39 Ahead of that, we've seen some fine weather to start the working week over much of East
00:43 Anglia and the southeast, along with northern Scotland.
00:46 But the rain is creeping slowly northwards.
00:49 The far north of Scotland staying largely dry.
00:52 Parts of the east of Northern Ireland cheering up a little this afternoon.
00:55 But for much of the northwest of England, particularly on the coast, a good chunk of
00:58 Wales and southwest England, there will be further outbreaks of rain.
01:02 Whereas the Midlands, particularly the east Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast, hangs
01:06 on to some hazy sunshine.
01:07 The breeze is picking up, but bringing warmer air up from the south as well.
01:12 So it feels much warmer in these eastern areas, certainly compared to Sunday, 14, 15, 16 degrees.
01:17 But obviously, with the cloud and the outbreaks of rain and that strengthening wind still
01:22 on the chilly side in these western parts at 12 or 13 Celsius, the rain will continue
01:27 to work its way into northern Scotland this evening, fizzling out perhaps for a time in
01:31 southern Scotland, northern Ireland, staying fairly soggy over the west Midlands, southern
01:36 parts of Wales.
01:37 And then that next pulse of rain starts to threaten up from the southwest.
01:42 Some clearer skies persist over the east Midlands, east Anglia and the southeast.
01:45 Some breaks in the cloud across Scotland, particularly across the south and the far
01:50 north, allowing temperatures to dip down into single figures, but for most a fairly mild
01:54 night, certainly compared to many nights that we had through last week.
01:58 Let's look at Tuesday's weather, then.
02:00 It's a similar story with most of the rain out west, some heavy bursts of rain.
02:03 There's brighter colours there coming into northern Ireland, some lively pulses of rain
02:08 too for Devon, Cornwall, parts of Pembrokeshire, and the rain becoming more widespread across
02:12 Wales during the day.
02:14 All the while, though, much of the Midlands, eastern England staying dry, could be a bit
02:17 cloudy across east Anglia, but a much brighter day over northeast England and eastern parts
02:23 of Scotland and a much warmer day here as well.
02:27 Again, temperatures are going to be split east-west with the cloud and the outbreaks
02:30 of rain in the west 12 or 13.
02:33 But with some sunshine across the central and eastern parts, temperatures really jumping
02:37 up 17, 18, perhaps even 19 degrees in some spots.
02:41 With the breeze off the sea, it will be a little cooler across Aberdeenshire, but certainly
02:46 for many in this zone, other parts of northeast England, southeast Scotland, it will be a
02:51 lot warmer compared to Monday.
02:54 So those temperatures comparing 24 hours earlier, you can see it will be quite a bit warmer
02:59 in that northeastern sector.
03:01 Will that last?
03:02 Well, it could get a little warmer through the rest of this week, but again, not for
03:05 all parts of the UK.
