00:00This is the all-new 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, jumping to the top of the lineup as the most capable off-roader.
00:11At 88 inches wide, with 35-inch tires and amber lights beaming on the functional hood scoop, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this is the latest iteration of the TRX.
00:21But Ram says the RHO is its own truck entirely, and more than a TRX with two less cylinders.
00:26Here's a few reasons the Ram high output is a step forward in factory desert runners, and not just a consolation prize for the death of the supercharged Elkett V8.
00:35Even though it doesn't match the TRX's power, Ram says the 3-liter, hurricane, high-output, straight-six turbo with 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque feels more potent in the RHO than any other Stellantis vehicle so far.
00:49Thanks to a high-flow intake, a high-capacity, easy-access conical air filter, and an efficient, freer-flowing, equal-length, true-dual exhaust with an H-pipe in the middle,
00:59a dual oil pickup gets added to the RHO's Hurricane, ensuring proper lubrication on the steepest climbs and descents.
01:06Ram hopes that anyone not inside the RHO will end up with a clear view of the back end,
01:11so an RHO badge inspired by the Rebel adorns the lower left tailgate, and a new rear bumper highlights the exhaust with integrated 5-inch outlets.
01:19With an expected 0-to-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds, a lot of vehicles sharing the road will have a hard time keeping up.
01:27The Hurricane weighs less than the Hellcat, removing 180 pounds from the front axle, shifting 30 of those pounds to the rear for a more balanced weight distribution.
01:37The weight reduction adds utility back to the off-road-focused 1500 with a towing capacity of 8,380 pounds and 1,520 pound payload. Both specs are higher than the TRX.
01:50The retuned Bilstein Blackhawk e-squared adaptive shocks are the same found on the TRX, but mounted in new locations with different internals and new tuning.
02:00Expected to deliver better handling on and off-road. Improved body roll and progressive hydraulic jounce control mean that the RHO should feel like a sport truck, carving up canyon roads or jumping dunes.
02:11Ground clearance is a sky-high 11.8 inches, with 13 inches of wheel articulation in the front and 14 inches in the rear.
02:19The added height from a 2-inch suspension lift means that the RHO can cross up to 32 inches of water.
02:25As one of nine different drive modes, Baja mode now sends 75% of torque to the rear wheels for a rear-wheel drive feel and better vehicle control with the throttle and sand and loose surfaces.
02:35This is versatility the TRX didn't have.
02:38The RHO drive mode button to the right of the steering wheel is quick and easy to use, with four-wheel drive settings, hill descent, and launch control all within reach.
02:46On the inside, 12-way power front bucket seats are heated and ventilated with a new massaging feature.
02:51Greystone stitching and graphite metallic accents are standard.
02:54Upgrade them with the available Red Accent Package to change the look of the seat striping, accent stitching, perforated leather, and speaker grille accents covering 19 speakers in the 900-watt Harman Kardon audio system.
03:06The focal point of the interior is the reconfigurable 14.5-inch vertical touchscreen, providing plenty of real estate for gauges and external camera views.
03:15Thanks to a new architecture running Uconnect 5, RAM says response times five times faster than the previous generation.
03:21Below the screen, you'll find RHO-exclusive physical auxiliary switches and redundant HVAC controls on the sides for easy access.
03:29A 12.3-inch digital cluster and 10-inch configurable head-up display have unique themes for each drive mode.
03:35Between the two, drivers have multiple options for viewing relevant data from performance, drivetrain settings, and now-available Level 2 hands-free highway driving and lane centering.
03:46Available dual wireless chargers invite passengers to take part in the adventures.
03:50Pairing with a class-exclusive 10.25-inch passenger side screen that is not visible to the driver makes off-road cameras available for a better co-pilot experience.
03:59Device mirroring on the passenger screen is possible with an HDMI cable.
04:02A stunning, serialized center console badge adds an elevated and unique touch to each truck.
04:08The loss of the Hellcat V8 will undoubtedly leave a hole in all performance categories, but the sport-tuned exhaust routing spent gas out of the twin-turbo straight-six will give the RHO its own sound and character.
04:19As far as off-road capability goes, the improved weight distribution and redesigned suspension could improve the experience over the TRX.
04:27With a starting price of $71,945, a drop of over $20,000 compared to the discontinued TRX puts the RHO in a better position to wind up in the hands of truck and off-road enthusiasts.
04:40It's available to order today with delivery starting in the third quarter of this year.
04:44The RHO might have a different character than the TRX without a snarling V8 under the hood, but it looks to be an improved truck all around and not just a policy-driven engine swap.
