Jeff Hafley talks Pitt Panthers
Transcript
00:00 So we'll talk a little bit about Pitt.
00:03 You know, obviously I have some experience.
00:06 I was there for five years.
00:07 It's where I really kind of started and got my first opportunity thanks to Dave Wonstad.
00:11 Yeah, really changed my life and probably did about as good of a job as anybody to coach there.
00:16 I know Coach Patarduzzi pretty well.
00:19 I have a lot of respect for him.
00:21 I've known him for a while.
00:23 Actually, you know, he's texted me before my first game and congratulated me after our win.
00:28 So I have a ton of respect for him.
00:30 He's been really good to me.
00:31 He's actually a guy that early on in the Zoom calls, he called me after and said,
00:35 "Hey, if you ever need anything, give me a call."
00:36 So I really appreciate him for that.
00:39 Defensive guy, and you can see the way his team plays.
00:42 He keeps them together.
00:44 They play really hard.
00:45 They're very disciplined.
00:45 They're very tough.
00:46 They're very physical.
00:48 And that's a credit to him.
00:50 Truthfully, I think he has them playing as a team together probably better than anybody we played so far this year.
00:55 So I have a lot of respect for him.
00:57 I know he's very involved with the defense, him and Coach Bates.
01:01 You know, and he does a good job.
01:02 They're very aggressive.
01:04 They get a lot of people down in the box.
01:06 They have a really good front seven.
01:08 They rely heavily on their corners and safeties and coverage, and they have a ton of sacks.
01:12 I know Charlie Partridge very well.
01:14 They're D-line coach.
01:15 I think he's one of the best coaches in the entire country.
01:19 I think he might be the best recruiter in the country.
01:21 Truthfully, when he was a head coach at FAU, they're still playing off the talent that he recruited there.
01:27 So I have a ton of respect for him and what he's done.
01:30 And that will be a challenge on defense for us.
01:33 On offense, Coach Whipple, you know, a pro-style attack.
01:36 I know Coach Whipple just from, you know, him being around the NFL.
01:40 He's done an incredible job with that quarterback who I think is a really good player.
01:45 The offensive line is really well coached.
01:47 Probably, you know, play together better than any old line we've played all year.
01:52 Combination blocks, pass protection, they work really well together.
01:56 You can see they're a very, very well coached team.
01:59 The wideouts are very dynamic.
02:03 You know, number three, number seven, number 11, number 18, all guys that can run.
02:08 The freshman number three, he's going to have a big-time career.
02:12 I know number seven transferred in, he's fast and physical.
02:15 And then 22 to the back, quick guy, can hit it.
02:18 And then Coach Powell on special teams, you know, you turn on the punt tape and watch him rush.
02:23 And you turn on the P18 and watch how the effort they play with, it's a credit to him.
02:29 Like I said, really solid football team that Coach Narduzzi's done a really good job.
02:33 So we're excited for it.
02:34 We respect him.
02:35 And I'll take your questions.
