Transcript
00:00Ohio State head coach Ryan Day announced that the university will honor former Buckeye
00:07quarterback Dwayne Haskins during the team's upcoming spring game on April 16th.
00:13Haskins tragically passed away on Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in
00:18South Florida.
00:19He was only 24 years old.
00:21Coach Day spoke to reporters after the incident and reflected on his legacy on Monday.
00:26Certainly our prayers are going out with the family, the entire family, his wife, certainly
00:34his parents.
00:35Dwayne and Tamara were awesome, his sister Tamiya, I know he and Dwayne were very, very
00:40close, used to talk about her all the time, and certainly all his friends and teammates.
00:45It's hard to wrap your mind around something like this, especially when it just happened
00:50so tragically to a young person, especially somebody who had such a big heart.
00:55When you think about Dwayne, you just think about the compassion that he had, certainly
01:00for all of his teammates and his friends, but just, he always took time after practice
01:05to be around family members, kids, he was like a big brother to RJ, he took RJ to a
01:13high school basketball, high school football game, and they spent a lot of time together.
01:19He meant a lot to my family, he meant a lot to this program, and he's gonna be sorely
01:23missed.
01:24It's so close to Saturday morning right now, it's still hard to get our feet underneath
01:30this and see clearly right now, but we all are hurting, and I know you guys are gonna
01:36have some questions, but I appreciate you guys coming out today.
