00:00Big news coming out of San Francisco today, as according to reports, the 49ers have given

00:06quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's agents permission to seek a trade.

00:10I'm quite at Montevideo Madison right now, and joining me is Grant Cohn from all 49ers.

00:15Grant, what's the likeliness that the 49ers are able to find a trade partner for Garoppolo?

00:22And who are some teams that you think might be interested?

00:25It almost sounds like the Niners have given up and they're like, Jimmy, if you can find

00:28a team that wants to trade for you, by all means, go for it.

00:31There's a lot of mitigating factors, and there's a lot of complications.

00:36It's not that Jimmy's a bad quarterback, but he is hurt.

00:40He hasn't thrown all offseason, and he isn't fully cleared to practice or play in a preseason

00:44game, and he's not supposed to be fully cleared until mid-August.

00:48So let's look at a team like Cleveland, who might be desperate for a starting quarterback

00:51if Deshaun Watson is suspended for the entire year.

00:54Well, if Jimmy isn't even fully cleared till mid-August, he's going to miss most of training

00:58camp, half of preseason.

01:00Can he be your starting quarterback?

01:02Can he be a starting quarterback this year?

01:04We don't know when he's going to be ready.

01:05He might just have to be a rehabbing backup who could take over mid-year, and if that's

01:10the case, is anyone really going to trade for a $27 million quarterback?

01:14Like Seattle, they need a starting quarterback, but again, they might have wanted Jimmy three

01:20If you can only get Jimmy right before week one, maybe you pass and just roll the dice

01:25with Drew Locke, and then see if the Niners are willing to keep Jimmy Garoppolo as a $27

01:29million backup.
