The Star took in the atmosphere as the first players broke off in the Crucible. The number of people out and about was further swelled by Sheffield United playing at home and decent weather.

00:11 It's wonderful, yeah, I think you should never leave Sheffield at all.
00:14 It's a fantastic place to come and watch snooker.
00:18 Absolutely amazing.
00:20 I'm seeing Ken Doherty today.
00:21 I went to watch the qualifiers at the English Institute of Sport last week.
00:27 Tickets there, that was fantastic.
00:29 And the standard is far better than ever it used to be as well, I think, from previous years.
00:36 In the last few years, anyway, I think the standard is so, so close.
00:40 So all of the players have got a chance of winning it.
00:44 [Sounds of crowd]
00:51 So, we're both local to Sheffield, but this guy here is actually Iranian.
00:56 So we were just walking through the city centre and we noticed that the Iranian player was on at the moment.
01:02 So we decided to stop and watch.
01:03 Yeah, exactly.
01:04 It's a nice game where I enjoy watching game play and the players are also so good.
01:09 So, it's a pleasure, yeah.
01:11 [Sounds of crowd]
01:23 And he definitely should stay in Sheffield.
01:26 Definitely should stay in Sheffield, yeah.
01:28 Yeah, it's the home of Will Snooker.
01:31 I don't know enough about the idea of building a larger venue.
01:36 I'm obviously a very keen snooker fan and I feel that the space may not be big enough.
01:43 You know, there's been talk this week of potentially knocking down the Crucible completely to improve the facilities.
01:49 Ronnie's not very keen with the facilities.
01:51 He thinks that Sheffield and the Crucible generally are difficult to get in and out of, I've heard.
01:57 I think there's mixed opinions on, but I mean, the iconic nature of another three years and 50 years of the Crucible
02:05 will put the money men under great pressure.
02:10 But money talks, doesn't it, of course.
02:12 Ronnie's coming towards the end of his career.
02:14 He knows Will number one.
02:16 The idea you asked me about, about building the other one, I don't know the ins and outs of where that money's going to come.
02:25 I guess Sheffield City Council won't be able to raise that sort of money to be able to build.
