00:00Olivia Munn is sharing details of her breast cancer journey, which has led her to have
00:04medically induced menopause. In a People magazine cover story published Wednesday,
00:09Munn reflected on her breast cancer diagnosis, which she revealed publicly last month.
00:13The diagnosis led to four surgeries and a double mastectomy.
00:17You realize cancer doesn't care who you are. It doesn't care if you have a baby or if you
00:21don't have time. It comes at you and you have no choice but to face it head on.
00:25When faced with a fast-moving cancer known as luminal B, within 30 days,
00:29Munn shared that she underwent multiple procedures, including a double mastectomy.
00:34I had amazing doctors, but it was still a negotiation sometimes on what we are doing.
00:38But I'm glad I did. I want to give myself the best shot of keeping the parts of me that I can keep.
00:43Noting that she underwent a nipple delay procedure,
00:45a surgical process which spares the nipples ahead of breast reconstruction.
00:49After believing she did not have breast cancer due to her annual mammogram three months prior
00:53coming back clear, she eventually learned that her lifetime breast cancer risk score
00:58was a 37.3%. Anything higher than a 20% score is considered high risk,
01:04and additional screening beyond a standard mammogram is likely necessary.
01:08After an ultrasound detected two more tumors in her right breast,
01:11and another MRI confirmed cancer in her left breast as well, Munn underwent a double mastectomy.
01:17After taking time to recover, Munn later underwent reconstruction surgery last fall.
01:22She also shared how partner John Mulaney supported her throughout with their son.
01:26It would have felt like climbing an iceberg without him. I don't think he had a moment to
01:30himself between being an incredibly hands-on father and going to and from the hospital,
01:34taking Malcolm to the park, putting him to nap, driving to Cedars-Sinai, hanging out with me,
01:39going home, putting Malcolm to bed, coming back to me. And he did it all happily.
