Paris Olympics flame lit at Greek cradle of ancient games

The countdown to this year's staging of the ultimate world sporting event has begun in earnest.

00:06 games in southern Greece. Bad weather prevented the traditional lighting and instead a backup

00:12 flame was used. Some 600 torchbearers will carry the flame through Greece for more than

00:17 5,000 kilometers, before handing it over to the Paris game organizers in Athens on April

00:24 Thousands of spectators from all over the world came to assist the event, whilst the

00:30 games are due to start in Paris on July 26.
