00:00 Everybody that lives here is passionate about keeping their beaches clean and it's very addictive and it's quite rewarding to remove that much plastic.
00:08 It also opens your eyes to plastic pollution, but here in particular it is to the fly tipping of the cliffs that's been happening for many years.
00:18 That is the litter on the beach rather than litter left by people that have had a day trip here.
00:24 There's loads of shredded carpet, Christmas trees, fake grass and building waste.
00:30 Builders shoes, builders hats, hard bits of plastic that look like paint trays or bits of mastic guns.
00:37 It's all completely industrial waste, no household waste at all.
00:41 Over the winter you get the big storms that bring so much of it in, which is always really upsetting because you know that's all out there in the sea floating around.
00:51 If everybody could litter pick, not just the beach but where they live because that all ends up here.
00:56 Down storm drains, blowing into rivers, this is the end location, the beach.
01:02 So anything that anybody could do.
01:04 Also I think people really need to think about their plastic usage and it's not about recycling, it is about reducing plastic.
01:12 Maybe putting pressure on manufacturers and government that we need to stop this use of plastic in throw away items.
01:19 You know, the confectionery, the food and all of those products, there's just so much plastic.
01:25 I've been collecting smarty lids for the past four years and they're immaculate and they stopped making those in 2005.
01:34 So it just gives you the plight of plastic is here forever unless we pick it up.
