Waverley passes Dumbarton Rock on her way to dry dock.
This morning Waverley set off from Glasgow for her annual round of dry dock inspections and maintenance.
Waverley is expected to be in dry dock for around 10 days before returning to Glasgow for final preparations ahead of the crew joining in early May.
WAVERLEY COMES BACK TO LIFE - Engine & Paddles turn for the first time this year!
Waverley’s boilers were lit on Tuesday (2nd April) with steam slowly being raised to full working pressure.
On Wednesday the engine room pumps were operated with the main engine turning today (Thursday) as we test systems and equipment on Waverley ahead of moving to dry dock in the coming week.
This winter has seen some work carried out on the main engine with new parts being fitted. Elsewhere around the ship several contractors are currently working to complete their work scope including the refurbishment works in the crew accommodation.
Waverley is expected to be in dry dock for around 10 days before returning to Glasgow for final preparation ahead of the crew joining in early May. During May the ship will undertake trials before her first passenger sailing on Friday 17th May.
