00:29 Well, friends come and friends go.
00:34 And I'm sorry to say that two of our good friends have gone.
00:38 David and Kristen's families have moved.
00:44 They won't be hearing their stories anymore,
00:46 but they'll always be a part of the Midnight Society.
00:51 We'll miss them.
00:54 But that means that we have room for two new members.
01:00 Betty Ann?
01:01 My friend Sam wants to join, but needs time
01:05 to work on an initiation story.
01:07 Well, that's cool.
01:08 No rush.
01:10 I've got someone I want to sponsor,
01:11 and I brought him here tonight.
01:13 He's ready.
01:15 So bring him on.
01:16 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:19 Kind of small, isn't he?
01:31 Small?
01:32 I'll show you small.
01:33 Oh, man, not a chance.
01:35 No. No way.
01:36 Come on, man.
01:36 Not your little brother.
01:38 I've got no choice.
01:40 I've either got to bring him, or I can't come anymore.
01:42 You're kidding.
01:43 Hey, we're not babysitters, you know?
01:45 Members got to tell stories.
01:47 A few scabs would lighten up.
01:49 Maybe I could tell one.
01:51 Listen, give him a chance.
01:53 You'd really have to quit?
01:55 Yeah, yeah, I know.
02:03 Tucker, this better be good, or I'm
02:11 going to let Frank pound you.
02:13 [MUSIC PLAYING]
02:15 OK, you guys make up ghost stories all the time.
02:20 But there are some ghost stories that
02:23 have been around for so long that it makes you wonder if
02:27 maybe, just maybe, they might not be made up.
02:31 My story's about a famous ghost and about a legend
02:39 that's so popular, it just won't die.
02:43 Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society,
02:50 I call this story, "The Tale of the Midnight Ride."
02:58 They called him the Headless Horseman.
03:08 Legend says he was a soldier who had his head ripped
03:11 off by a stray cannonball.
03:14 Night after night, his ghost would
03:16 ride through the countryside near Sleepy Hollow,
03:20 searching for a new head and a victim to steal it from.
03:25 Then, one Halloween night, a lonely schoolmaster
03:29 named Ichabod Crane took a wrong turn in the woods
03:32 and was chased down by the demon ghost.
03:37 Ichabod rode like crazy to get to the Bridge of Souls,
03:41 a bridge the Headless Horseman could never cross.
03:44 But he didn't make it.
03:46 And poor Ichabod was never seen again.
03:50 Ever since then, on Halloween night,
03:54 the ghost of the Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane
03:57 returned to Sleepy Hollow to ride again.
04:01 Or so the legend says.
04:03 [MUSIC PLAYING]
04:06 Ian Matthews just moved to Sleepy Hollow
04:18 and was trying hard to make friends.
04:20 But like everything Ian did, sometimes
04:23 he tried a little too hard.
04:26 Heads up!
04:28 Brad?
04:30 I'm sorry, babe.
04:31 Um, um, please allow me.
04:40 Oh, thanks.
04:42 He really burns me sometimes.
04:45 Hi, I'm Ian.
04:46 I'm Katie.
04:50 Um, aren't we in the same lit class?
04:54 I sit by-- - Window.
04:55 Uh, yeah, we are.
04:59 What is all this stuff?
05:01 Um, it's decorations for the Halloween dance tonight.
05:06 Uh, tonight?
05:08 Hey, I'm available if you need any help.
05:10 Really?
05:11 That'd be great.
05:12 I could use a--
05:14 no, look what he did.
05:17 I was going to help.
05:18 If you want to help, you can get this fixed pronto.
05:21 You know, and bring it inside, you know,
05:22 because we'll be setting up for the dance.
05:24 You know.
05:25 Hey, she putting moves on Katie.
05:34 Not if she wants to live.
05:36 [CHATTER]
05:38 So how do you like Sleepy Hollow?
06:03 It's nice, but, you know, kind of boring compared to the city.
06:07 But it's nice.
06:08 You're from the city?
06:10 Yeah, I just moved in this summer.
06:12 Need some help, babe?
06:14 No, thanks, babe.
06:15 We're almost done.
06:18 So what, are you calling a dance again, right, or what?
06:21 Brad, how many ways do I have to say it?
06:24 It's over.
06:26 We don't go out anymore.
06:28 Look, I'll say when we don't go out anymore.
06:31 [THUD]
06:32 [THUD]
06:33 [THUD]
06:34 Good thing you've got such a hard head.
06:37 Sorry about that.
06:39 So are you going to the dance tonight?
06:42 Why are you asking?
06:43 [LAUGHS]
06:45 You stay away from her, unless you
06:47 want to walk around toothless.
06:48 [MUSIC PLAYING]
06:51 I don't believe it.
06:58 I'm sorry.
06:59 He can be really juvenile sometimes.
07:02 He can be really scary, too.
07:05 Don't let him bother you.
07:07 Are you coming tonight?
07:09 Wouldn't miss it.
07:10 Great.
07:11 Save a dance for me.
07:12 Well, this is going to be interesting.
07:20 [THUD]
07:21 [THUD]
07:22 [THUD]
07:23 [MUSIC PLAYING]
07:26 [FOOTSTEPS]
07:30 [MUSIC PLAYING]
07:44 [WATER SPLASHING]
07:47 [MUSIC PLAYING]
07:50 [MUSIC PLAYING]
07:54 Hey, you twins.
08:17 Great minds think alike.
08:18 [MUSIC PLAYING]
08:22 Hey, I, uh, I'd love to go get an old friend.
08:31 Come on.
08:32 You owe me a dance.
08:33 A dance I'd be most happy to pay, my lady.
08:36 [MUSIC PLAYING]
08:46 Ian was kind of a goofy guy.
08:48 And everybody thought he was pretty funny.
08:52 Well, almost everybody.
08:56 Ian didn't know it, but he was walking through some very
08:59 dangerous territory.
09:01 Thanks.
09:02 [MUSIC PLAYING]
09:06 [POLICE SIRENS]
09:09 Can you just listen to me for a second?
09:20 Ian, I'm Hank.
09:21 How you doing?
09:22 Take off, geek.
09:23 Listen, just let me--
09:24 Oh, call me crazy, but, you know,
09:26 I don't think she wants to talk to you.
09:28 It's OK, Ian.
09:29 Excuse me?
09:30 I think you should leave her alone.
09:33 Oh.
09:34 [MUSIC PLAYING]
09:36 Brad!
09:37 All right.
09:43 You.
09:44 Oh, jeez.
09:46 Brad, don't do this.
09:47 Put your fist down, geek.
09:56 I'd rather not.
09:59 Look, I don't want to fight you.
10:01 I'm going to do you a favor.
10:03 [CLICK]
10:05 Uh, good, I think.
10:07 Brad, cut the macho stuff.
10:09 It's old.
10:10 You know the legend of Sleepy Hollow?
10:13 Uh, yes, sort of.
10:15 Well, let me refresh your memory.
10:18 It was Halloween night back in 1700-whatever
10:24 when Ichabod Crane came to a fork in the road.
10:28 Now, he should have gone left, but he went right.
10:31 So instead of getting to the Bridge of Souls,
10:38 a bridge the Headless Horseman could never cross over,
10:42 he went deeper into the woods.
10:45 Yeah, I know.
10:46 The Headless Horseman threw a pumpkin and took his head.
10:48 So what?
10:49 So it's Halloween.
10:55 And we have a tradition here in Sleepy Hollow.
10:58 When some new guy shows up, he's got to be initiated.
11:02 Oh, please.
11:03 What, are you going to take my head?
11:06 Not exactly.
11:07 No.
11:10 See, the old bridge is still there, just like in the story.
11:14 It's through the park and into the woods.
11:18 Yeah, so?
11:19 So what you got to do is go to the bridge,
11:24 get the Headless Horseman's pumpkin,
11:27 just like we all did.
11:30 Come on, Ian, you don't have to--
11:31 You're kidding, right?
11:32 You got a choice.
11:37 Go get the pumpkin.
11:39 We'll cut you some slack.
11:41 Don't get it, and you can put your fists back up.
11:44 Well, since I don't believe in ghosts,
11:50 I'll take my chance with the pumpkin.
11:52 Have fun.
11:57 [HORSE GALLOPING]
12:00 This isn't a tradition.
12:04 You don't have to do this.
12:05 Hey, it's OK.
12:06 You know, I'll play a little game, get it over with,
12:09 save a dance for me.
12:10 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:13 [HORSE GALLOPING]
12:17 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:20 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:24 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:27 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:31 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:34 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:58 Fork in the road.
12:59 OK, good-bye.
13:04 Which way to the bridge?
13:05 You went right, I'm going left.
13:13 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:16 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:19 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:48 OK, guys, where's the pumpkin?
13:50 Nice touch.
14:16 [LAUGHING]
14:18 Yeah, ha-ha, Brad, I know it's you.
14:23 Give me a break.
14:31 You guys aren't-- oh!
14:36 [MUSIC PLAYING]
14:39 Help!
14:40 Help!
14:41 Help!
14:42 [MUSIC PLAYING]
14:46 No!
14:48 No, don't take my head!
14:50 No!
14:52 Boo!
14:55 Oh, man, this is going to go down in history.
14:58 Help!
14:59 Help!
15:00 Don't take my head!
15:01 Hey, man, are you OK?
15:03 Don't mess with me, you little weasel.
15:11 I'll take your head off myself.
15:14 Let's go, Katie.
15:16 I'm staying with Ian.
15:17 Would you forget this loser?
15:22 Brad, I'm sick of your stupid games.
15:25 Why don't you just take your traveling circus, please,
15:28 and leave me alone?
15:31 Hey, do whatever you want.
15:33 Just remember, it's Halloween.
15:35 And I don't think your pal here has
15:37 the guts to stand up to the real headless horseman
15:39 if he shows up.
15:41 [MUSIC PLAYING]
15:44 Ian, I'm-- I'm really sorry.
15:51 No, no.
15:52 Hey, I like ridicule.
15:53 I can't wait for school on Monday,
15:54 because, you know, I'm going to get tons.
15:56 [MUSIC PLAYING]
15:59 Listen, would you walk me home?
16:02 'Tis the one thing that would make this horrible night
16:05 worthwhile, my lady.
16:07 Take thee, my muddy arm.
16:09 I am really glad this night is over.
16:20 [MUSIC PLAYING]
16:24 [HORSE GALLOPING]
16:27 I think you're really brave.
16:45 You know, Brad never would have come out here by himself.
16:49 Hey, you're shivering.
16:50 Take my jacket.
16:51 No, I'm OK.
16:53 Oh.
16:54 [MUSIC PLAYING]
16:57 It was brave how you stood up to Brad at the gym, too.
17:16 Yeah, right.
17:17 I'm not even stupid.
17:18 No, it's about time someone stood up to--
17:21 Hey, listen, you hear that?
17:23 It's a horse.
17:27 Is Brad right?
17:32 I don't think so.
17:33 I think we'd better--
17:38 [HORSE NEIGHING]
17:38 [GASPS]
17:40 Good evening, children.
17:42 Oh, I didn't mean to startle you.
17:45 I'm afraid I've lost my way in these wretched woods.
17:49 Would you be so kind as to direct
17:51 me to the Bridge of Souls?
17:54 Uh, yeah, sure.
17:56 Take a left at the fork.
18:01 Oh, lucky thing.
18:03 I surely would have taken a right.
18:06 Thank you kindly.
18:07 Who are you?
18:13 Crane.
18:14 Ichabod Crane, the new schoolmaster.
18:17 What are your names?
18:20 Ichabod Crane.
18:22 You gotta be--
18:23 [HORSE NEIGHING]
18:27 Where'd he go?
18:29 Let's get you home.
18:30 Let's--
18:31 [MUSIC PLAYING]
18:34 Ian, I'm really glad I met you.
18:45 Me, too.
18:46 I mean, I'm glad I met you.
18:49 [CHUCKLES]
18:52 Uh, at the risk of needing dental work,
18:55 I, uh, I'd like to see you again.
18:59 Me, too.
19:01 I mean, I'd like to see you again.
19:03 [CHUCKLES]
19:05 OK.
19:06 I just remember my bike.
19:12 Um, I left it at the school.
19:15 Good night.
19:16 [DOG BARKING]
19:17 Good night.
19:18 [HORSE NEIGHING]
19:24 You're spooking yourself, Ian, old boy.
19:44 [HORN HONKING]
19:47 Oh, come on.
20:05 Brad.
20:08 Brad, I'm not buying it.
20:10 [MUSIC PLAYING]
20:14 Man, this guy is good.
20:18 Oh, no.
20:19 The key.
20:20 I forgot my stupid jacket.
20:22 Forget it.
20:27 I'm out of here.
20:28 Ah!
20:29 It was just me.
20:30 What are you doing here?
20:33 Yeah, thanks, you know, but I--
20:34 I could have got it tomorrow.
20:36 [MUSIC PLAYING]
20:39 Ah.
20:42 Uh, come on.
20:43 I'll-- I'll ride you home.
20:44 Hey, relax.
20:46 Why are you so nervous?
20:47 You know, Brad, the bridge, you know,
20:49 that real wacky guy in that costume?
20:51 You know, let's just pretend none of this ever happened.
20:55 Ian?
20:55 [MUSIC PLAYING]
20:59 [DOG BARKING]
21:01 Hey, Tigg, I've had it.
21:06 [MUSIC PLAYING]
21:09 Enough's enough, Brad, all right?
21:12 She doesn't like you anymore.
21:13 You want to fight, we'll fight.
21:16 But stop with the stupid games.
21:17 Say what?
21:31 [DOG BARKING]
21:34 [MUSIC PLAYING]
21:38 Brad?
21:45 [MUSIC PLAYING]
21:48 You're in my--
21:55 you're in my--
21:56 What is this?
21:57 What's the matter?
21:58 The legend of Sleepy Hollow just stopped being a legend.
22:00 Look.
22:01 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:05 [SCREAMING]
22:06 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:09 Meet your brother, pal.
22:11 Say goodbye, Hank.
22:16 This can't be, can it?
22:25 Katie, the thing came out of the wall.
22:27 This is no joke.
22:28 It's the Handler's horseman.
22:29 I thought he's supposed to be after Ichabod Crane.
22:31 Yeah, except we told old Ichabod how
22:34 to get to the bridge.
22:34 We changed the story.
22:36 Now it's after us.
22:37 There's only one thing we can do.
22:42 What?
22:43 We got to play the story out.
22:45 We got to get to the bridge.
22:46 He can't cross it.
22:46 Oh, no, do you think I'm going--
22:48 [SCREAMING]
22:49 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:52 [LAUGHING]
22:53 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:56 I think we lost him.
22:59 Yeah, you'd never think we'd be stupid
23:01 enough to come back here.
23:02 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:05 No!
23:08 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:12 Stop, Hank!
23:14 Stop!
23:18 What?
23:19 Stop it!
23:20 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:24 There!
23:27 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:31 [SCREAMING]
23:32 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:36 Now what?
23:39 You can't get both of us.
23:40 I'll distract them.
23:41 You run for the bridge.
23:42 No, can't you?
23:44 You got a better idea?
23:45 Yeah, I'll distract them.
23:47 No!
23:48 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:51 Andrew!
23:58 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:01 [SCREAMING]
24:10 [SCREAMING]
24:15 Get the supernatural layer head.
24:18 It's me, you rat.
24:19 Come on.
24:20 Come and get me.
24:23 Don't think this legend works both ways.
24:26 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:29 Yes, not.
24:31 The bridge!
24:33 Run!
24:34 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:37 [SCREAMING]
24:40 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:44 [SCREAMING]
24:54 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:57 Ian!
25:15 Ian!
25:16 [MUSIC PLAYING]
25:20 And I thought this place was boring.
25:25 It worked.
25:30 We set the story straight.
25:32 Wonderful.
25:33 You children should not be out so late,
25:37 and on Halloween to boot.
25:39 They say these woods are haunted, you know.
25:45 Why are you coming back?
25:47 Oh, I'm afraid I've totally lost my way.
25:51 I think it's best to go back to the fork
25:53 and take the right path.
25:55 That should set things straight.
25:57 Yeah, I think it probably will.
26:02 Take care.
26:04 Beware the headless horseman.
26:05 [MUSIC PLAYING]
26:09 Happy Halloween.
26:12 [MUSIC PLAYING]
26:40 The end.
26:41 Well.
26:44 You'll do.
26:52 Excellent.
26:58 Just keep him out of my face.
27:07 Yes!
27:08 Nice going, bro.
27:09 Welcome to the Midnight Society.
27:11 You put out the fire.
27:12 I'm going to catch up.
27:13 [MUSIC PLAYING]
27:16 I hope I'm not going to regret this.
