00:00 The Department of Agriculture suspended the importation of Galunggong and other types of fish
00:07 according to the memorandum order issued by Agriculture Secretary Kiko T. Laurel Jr.
00:12 The agency of the report, which brings imported fish and other seafood to the markets,
00:20 should be considered to be canning, processing, and institutional buyers,
00:25 like the restaurant that follows Fisheries Administrative Order No. 195.
00:31 Technically, I know all the crazy things that are happening there.
00:34 Well, it's illegal because we have a law.
00:37 We need to follow the law.
00:38 It's not right to hunt, both fisherfolk and commercial.
00:43 To stop the importation to the markets,
00:46 the issue of import clearance for frozen Galunggong, Bonito, and Macarel was suspended.
00:53 The only way to import Macarel is to use a can.
00:59 The volume is limited based on the amount sold last year.
01:04 But if the increase of 10% is given as a buffer,
01:09 all fish will be limited to the label "imported"
01:13 and for cutting purposes and not in the market or supermarket.
01:18 A crackdown will also be made against the importers who illegally import fish to the markets.
01:25 Most of them are identified, but of course, we have to do our audit.
01:30 To be fair to everybody, we don't want to hit the legitimate ones.
01:37 The market owners have nothing to do with it.
01:41 It's just the truth.
01:42 It's their fault for entering and diverting.
01:45 The small fish in the market are pitiful.
01:47 The My Enforcement Team is the one who is responsible for the illegal importation of fish to the markets.
01:52 Based on the administrative order,
01:54 the last illegal importer of fish should be jailed for up to 8 years and be fined P80,000.
02:03 It should be for manufacturers and institutional buyers.
