00:59:20 and I'm here live at the Cassie Campbell Community Centre in Brampton for the 2024 Skate Ontario Provincial Championships.
00:59:28 In the Star 9 group, they have six required elements for those of you out there who are still new to figure skating.
00:59:39 There's a maximum of three jump elements, maximum of two spins, and a maximum of one step sequence.
00:59:46 You'll see one single axle or double axle, one double jump, and one combination jump for a maximum of two jumps in combination.
00:59:55 Currently we're experiencing technical issues, so you won't see a lot of the graphics or scoring unfortunately,
01:00:03 but hopefully I'll keep you updated and explain what is going on with the current standings and scores.
01:00:13 For those of you who don't know, the point system in figure skating is a cumulative point system.
01:00:20 So we have two sets of scores. There's the technical scores, which will include the scores for your jumps, your spins, and your step sequences.
01:00:29 And you have the program component score, which includes the score for the artistry.
01:00:35 That'll be the performance, the choreography, the interpretation.
01:00:40 Skaters who want to get up to the podium combine the best of both worlds.
01:00:45 So they'll have amazing technical scores as well as performance scores and overall great skating on the technical and performance level.
01:00:55 The skaters in the Star 9 Women's Short Program Group 2 have just received the one-minute warning.
01:01:06 And soon they will be off to the races with the Short Program.
