Nike have come under fire for what they describe as a 'playful' change to the St George's Cross on the new England football shirt. We asked the Sheffield public what they thought
Transcript
00:00 There was a guy on the radio saying if you did that to the Nike swoosh you'd certainly get sued.
00:06 Put it on your own shirt. So I agree, I think they should have just
00:14 done it in a traditional way. It seems silly to me. The other thing I think is that why are we
00:21 going to an American company for our football shirts? Of all the things we should be patriotic
00:26 about in terms of manufacturing industry, the football shirt should be one of them, shouldn't
00:32 it? So I don't have a deal of sympathy with the people who promoted it, but no doubt they've
00:40 paid loads of money for it. It's certainly not worth it. It's stupid.
00:45 Me personally, it doesn't bother me. I don't massively follow the England national team.
00:57 I'm not overly bothered in the debate of the cross on the back of the shirt.
01:05 I do like the shirt though. It's a nice shirt.
01:08 I can't really make any difference to me. And I am English, so maybe it doesn't make
01:18 any difference to anyone. I can't really see why anyone would be upset about it.
01:23 Yeah, it's fine. I've read about it actually. So this is just on the back of the collar there,
01:30 and they've changed up the red on the St George's cross. So do you think it's acceptable for us to
01:36 be doing that? I've got to be honest, I couldn't care less. To be brutally honest, I couldn't care
01:43 less. I've got zero opinion on it really. Thank you very much. It looks all right to me.
01:50 Thank you.
