Boston Celtics boss Joe Mazzulla hails the job Jaylen Brown does in making his team 'well-connected'.
Transcript
00:00 Joe, it feels like we ask you all the time now, but Jalen Brown just hounding Lillard
00:04 up and down the floor the entire night.
00:06 Lillard finished with like an efficient night, but to make it difficult on Dame on a night
00:11 where they're missing their other top scorer while also being a primary offensive option,
00:14 what does that say about his motor, just what he brings to the table, his willingness to
00:17 take on that role?
00:18 Yeah, I mean it's not being defined by one thing and saying, "Hey, if we want to win
00:21 this, we have to do this."
00:22 And I thought Jalen's mindset and intensity to start the game is kind of what kept us
00:26 connected throughout the game.
00:27 And he set the tone as far as our defensive intensity for the game and the rest of the
00:32 guys picked up on that.
00:33 I thought Al had some tremendous closeouts.
00:35 Derek, I thought Jason's blocks.
00:37 But when our guys are not just defined by one thing and we understand that in order
00:41 to win, you have to play well-connected basketball and it starts with intensity and physicality.
00:45 Jalen's done a great job of that.
00:47 And again, it feels like we ask you, but is this something he's asking for now or is it
00:51 just kind of assumed that, yeah, Jalen's going to take on that?
00:52 I mean, not necessarily asking, he's just taking ownership of it.
00:55 This is what I want to do.
00:56 This is how I can impact the game.
00:58 And he's done a great job living in that space of I'm not just going to be defined by one
01:01 thing.
01:02 I'm just going to impact the game.
01:03 So he's taking full ownership of it.
01:04 And that's been a great form of leadership for us.
